I remember you as well. You had a different avy back then but you’ve had your current one for a long time. Wasn’t the one you used to have some guy in a mustache or something?

Anyway, there ARE still some good posters here and there that have cropped up along the way, but when I remember some of these super active posters from before I wonder sometimes if they just got tired of posting or if their lives were just cut short and we never got to find out.

I mean, the reason why we found out about Larry, Samurai, and Walt passing away was because those posters were forward enough to interact with OTHER posters in real life (or share their socials, photos, cell phone numbers) and when the day finally came, the poster they befriended got the news by chance (whether through a friend, significant other, facebook posting memorials, etc.)

Some posters may have passed away and we might just never find out about it.
I had Harold Johnson and Joe Louis before this one then just kept this one of **** Tiger now for as long as I can remember.

A lot of the old timers likely have passed away, guys who were even older than me. GJC and Scott passed away from the History Section, two great posters and people. I think guys like Wild Blue Yonda and the rest likely passed away because they were quite the old back then 10-15 years ago.

There are some decent posters but few and far between. Back then it was great and you had young guys like JRosales and Ruben and loads of others who were very knowledgable in their young age but also willing to learn, not like it is now. Most idiotic conversation.

I think 2007-2010 was the peak of this site, it was still decent up for 2015 but it’s been quite terrible since then really.

You have brought prominence to that upstart site exponentially.

A lot of posters probably disappeared once the big Floyd-Pacquiao match came and went so there wasn’t anything as colossal since then (that’s induced even mainstream audiences into an absolute fever pitch).

And I agree. 2007-2010 was probably one of the more fun periods in this site.

And boxing itself is such a big part of my life that when I think of different fights, I can remember where I was in life and WHERE AND WHO I WAS WITH watching the fight.

I think til this day the most fun I had was when the Cotto-Margarito rematch was about a few days away.

I was about two months from going into the service and I made a crudely photoshopped train with Cotto’s face imploring everyone to board the Cotto express. Naturally, some Margarito supporters came to talk trash and some Boricuas were telling me to stop posting BS and get serious. Lol

It was absolutely one of the most fun nights I had with friends and family watching the fight and the fact that I watched it with my late father means it’s something that I now look back on even more fondly.

Time creeps on you. I was almost (or had just TURNED) 21 when I joined the forum and am now damn near 40 with kids…and sounding like the old timers that I thought I wouldn’t become, saying:

“Who? THAT guy? Maaaaaaaaannnn, Cotto/Pavlik/Floyd/Calzaghe/Maidana would’ve effed him up!”

And now all these guys are getting up there in age.

Hell, I remember when I used to watch Ray Boom Boom Mancini on RINGSIDE on ESPN talking about old fights with Brian Kenny. He was middle-aged but still fit and now he looks like a frail mafioso from a notorious crime family.

Forums feel like they are a thing of the past now. I used to be a member of several forums for my interests, but now I am barely a member here.

Checking in from time to time and looking for something to be for or against. The Boxing Lounge is a dead place, what happened?

Individual, highly niche forum websites are a dying breed all thanks to Reddit.

Added to that, boxing is a niche sport. A lot of people don’t get their boxing news reading articles. You just have more avenues to get content.

YouTube and various other streaming medias.

We are a dying breed, and yet, here we are, clinging onto life.

I am sure compared to 2000’s and 2010’s, site traffic is way down in 2020’s.

                    BUT WE STILL HERE!!!
