Are any posters from the old days here?

I went down a trip memory lane sifting through my old posts, inbox messages with bets I used to make with several members back in the day (12-15 years ago) and then I started wondering if anybody knows about some posters who show up as being online here around 2-3 years ago (or even recently) but haven’t posted in ages. I see and have read the tributes made to posters like Walt, Samurai, Larry (I remember him as the resident “Floyd fan”) and others.

I dunno, man. It’s a weird feeling. I have never met these people in my life in person and yet I associate them strongly with perspectives/boxers over the dozens if not hundreds of texts I used to read more often back when I first started out here (midway through college).

I’m sure some from the old guard is here, but if they are, I haven’t recognized them (at least not yet) as I’ve gotten back into posting in the last year or so. I think there was a period between military service and getting out where I went AWOL from this site for maybe 4 years completely, then I went back to lurking for maybe 2-3 years and now I’m an active poster again but it doesn’t FEEL like I’ve been here that long and it’s coming up on 20 in 2007.

Anyway, some recent newly minted poster here that started anywhere between a year ago to three years ago is going to look at this and say, “What in the flying ‘fool’ is this guy talking about?”

For those that have been here long enough and remember, thank you, brothers! This site is special, and it was even more special back then (bets, no censorship, etc.)

To any of the old school reading this, nothing but love, fellas!

I think I saw Reed post a year or so ago. The others have been gone a lot longer. Silencers was a very knowledgeable old school fan, I liked reading his posts. Mangler was always good to chat with, knew a lot of boxing and horror movies.

Yeah, man. He even had a YouTube channel. And I knew it solely on the fact that his thumbnail profile and username on YouTube was the same shot of Jason Voorhees. Lol

I’m getting nostalgic thinking back to the 2007-2012 era.

Some good posters on here. Others are brave enough to meet each other in real life but I dunno if I’d be comfortable enough to be down with that, though.

The ones I listed I remember at least as having a semblance of sanity and willingness to discuss boxing without resorting to spewing poison whenever disagreements came up.

I remember you as well. You had a different avy back then but you’ve had your current one for a long time. Wasn’t the one you used to have some guy in a mustache or something?

Anyway, there ARE still some good posters here and there that have cropped up along the way, but when I remember some of these super active posters from before I wonder sometimes if they just got tired of posting or if their lives were just cut short and we never got to find out.

I mean, the reason why we found out about Larry, Samurai, and Walt passing away was because those posters were forward enough to interact with OTHER posters in real life (or share their socials, photos, cell phone numbers) and when the day finally came, the poster they befriended got the news by chance (whether through a friend, significant other, facebook posting memorials, etc.)

Some posters may have passed away and we might just never find out about it.
