Just a thought, I am not suggesting that this will happen.....

But what if Vic caught chino early in that fight, or got a bad stoppage ?

Vic would have gotten the monkey off his back, but really proven nothing ?

While Maidana is certainly not the most skilled fighter out there, he is certainly one of my favorites----terrific fights and a has an underrated sense of humor.

If Vic did learn from that fight, then what tools will Maidana use to stop Vic from knocking him down multiple times and beating him up in the rematch?

Maidana was getting abused in that fight, and would have been KTFO by anyone else that night.

He got KD 3x vs a green Ortiz at 140, what options will Maidana have after the 4-5 KD in a rematch, Vic will obviously improve his option taking next time out?
Ortiz when he fought Berto looked like a stronger more aggressive version of the guy who fought Miadana.

The thing that hurt him against Maidana was his lack of a jab.

He didn't fix that against Berto.

Without a jab you can't control Maidana.

Ask Morales. Erik has always had a excellent stiff jab. It gave Maidana hell.

Maidana also had some issues with Khan's jab.

        Ortiz has no jab.

        Getting Abused?

He looked strong as sh$t when he was pounding Ortiz before he quit.

        Maidana has incredible recuperative powers.

        He's Majin Buu.

he didn't even say anything in his reply.......... he used the age old adage, " A picture is worth a thousand words....."

maidana 2, ortiz 0.................. that picture is pwnage! classic stuff, these guys have a good thing going, they need to capitalize on it.

bottom line is this, maidana and the world wants this rematch, ti is actually the most anticipated fight, I think, in boxing right now, i mean, espn did a poll and the rematch was in more demand than any other fight for ortiz, more than mayweather and pacquiao, thank god for smart fans for once, but if the rematch doesn't pop off, i have more of a reason to put the blame on ortiz.........

obviously i think oritz can handle maidana's power at 147, but it is really an interesting fight because ortiz was knocked down by berto, maidana still has more than a punchers chance..........

good fight, this is a great rivalry......

ehehh he is one tough sob alright, no doubt about that.

I wonder what was going through Khan's mind when he saw chino get up in R1

Fair call, what I was meaning was 3 KD's and probably a 4-1 deficit after 5 is not a healthy start to a fight, sure Maidana relies on his intangibles, is not a front-runner, and will break you down through pressure, but that was an awful way to start a fight.....

You are right about the jab, it is not the first time that has been mentioned, the thing is, he has a decent jab.

OK, I am sold, but only for one reason, coz I still think Ortiz beats Maidana at 147, and I think that he beats him in style if he fights a lot smarter than last time..... the reason is, because chino is Majin Buu

He is tough as hell, you have to run him over to stop him, he will likely always be in the fight, and likely always have a chance to turn it around.

He is very heavy-handed, but not a one-punch ko artist imho, or he would have Khan out of there.

Umm dude he did make your ass quit. If that doesn't earn a rematch with you what does?

Maidana seems confident he will win a rematch. And I think he's got a very good chance as well, he's looked very good since that fight.

Ortiz might be biting off more than he can chew here.
