Guys its not just about the win over Berto, its his complete change in demeanor - its clearly evident that he was really dedicated and the look you saw in his eyes in the Berto fight wasn't an act, he thought like he was possessed like Merchant said. This is not the surfer pretty boy image that he took on before Berto, after the Peterson fight he sounded as if he was done with boxing when the Berto fight completely changed that. As his first debut fight in 147 he took on a formidable legit undefeated WW, that second knock down was vicious and most thought it was the end. If the rematch is at 147, I take Ortiz via TKO/KO - if he fought with heart like he did in the Berto fight.

Ortiz should think twice. Maidana should be the one denying a rematch.

Maidana has been taking a lot of punishment and his chin will fail him eventually. It could be his next fight when he no longer has that gifted resiliency that makes him get back up and fight hard. If he still has that in an Ortiz rematch, he will take Ortiz's heart once again.

Ortiz could make Berto get discouraged, he will never discourage Maidana. He might be able to knock him out do to what i suggested earlier, but if Maidana can hang tough, he will drown Ortiz in deep waters again.

Ortiz beats Maidana if he uses his jab and actually tries to box instead of trying to **** and go toe to toe with Maidana.

He will hurt Maidana and get suckered into a slugfest again. Ortiz has a killer instinct and he will always go for blood. That plays into Maidana's hands.

That should be the gameplan, but I think Ortiz likes to mix it up too much.

I don't get these fighters like Khan and Ortiz.

You have guys like Williams and Taylor asking for rematches immediately. Taylor getting brutally stopped by Pavlik, then several months later a rematch takes place. Williams getting outboxed by Quintana, 5 months later a rematch. Mayweather not looking his best against Castillo, next fight is a rematch. You have Chad Dawson pulling the trigger on the rematch clause for Pascal, but of course the WBC didn't let it happen. You have Chad Dawson giving Johnson his rematch from their first close fight.

Then you have Khan getting knocked out in a matter of seconds and calls it an off night and say Presscot is not on his level but doesn't want to prove what he's saying. Ortiz quitting against Maidana in 6, now says Maidana is not on his level and doesn't want to rematch him, although he was the one who lost. And it's a little trend nowadays, I don't know if it's just an American thing to want a rematch with the guy that beat you/was in a close fight with you ASAP. But I only see Americans doing it[wanting a rematch]. The rest of the fighters, act like it's a cool thing to be brutally knocked out and just walk away. Man, Ray Robinson and Lamotta fought 6 times, why can't these fighters nowadays just fight at least twice, just a second fight against the guy that beat them, it doesn't have to be 6 fights.

Whatever, Ortiz and Khan, Cotto is another one who didn't dare rematch Margarito until now, 3 years later, he used the handwrap incident as his scapegoat to not fighting Margarito. Everyone else dodging rematches, can continue their career with their unavenged losses, but at the end of the day, people in the future will look through your resume, and see how you got owned by some one and you never dared to avenge that loss, then they will look at the old school fighters resume and see how they fought themselves up to 3 times commonly and they will notice the difference between a Golden Age fighter and a Copper Age fighter[which is my era unfortunately], sorry this is not the Bronze age, Bronze is too good to call these fighters. These guys are more like the Wood era or something like that, the Glass era.

They are one and the same.
lol on this one...If this is true, Ortiz needs Gouku, a guy from Nemic, and some other creatures to back him up. Unless Ortiz has some ace up his sleeve and enters the ring as a super Saiyan.

Maidana, by way of the social networks, expressed his response with a single picture.
