I saw the first fight with Maidana and Ortiz had it but he opted to go for the KO but had he continued to box then Maidana would have been beat. I look at it more as a learning lesson for Ortiz. Sure Maidana is strong and he can fight but in a rematch, I feel like Victor Ortiz would smash him but I would rather see it then assume but if I had to place a bet it would be on Ortiz. People are saying Berto is over hyped but I also bet the guys Maidana fought probably couldn't hang with him. Berto is going to get better from this loss. He was lunching too much but Berto has talent. Just needs a new focus and corner. Curious to see Maidana 's next move.
This is the kind of fight that breathes life into boxing, mainly because, as you said, it can be looked at in different ways and opens up multiple avenues of debate. In the Maidana -Ortiz fight, I disagree that had Ortiz just boxed he'd have escaped with a win. That's all Amir Kahn did, and still almost got stretched. Ortiz is much less mobile, and I think it was just a matter of time before Chino got to him like he ultimately did. The re-match is the number one fight I want to see regarding these two fighters. Truely a 50-50 pick 'em affair at 147. We'll see how much Ortiz has learned because I know that you know, boxing is 75% mental, and that's one mark in the debit column Maidana has on Victor as of now.

Boxing is definitely a mental thing but it also has to do with will, heart and determination. Ortiz got careless against Maidana. He was being fed so many easy fights and getting early round KO's that once he was put up against a fighter with heart and durability he folded when the pressure was on but I think this Berto win made him better from here on. Berto dropped the hammer on him in the 6th and looked like he had Ortiz beat but Victor pulled together and dropped berto again. I think mentally he is ready for Maidana after that. I also feel like people are not talking about the Lopez/Salido fight the same because that fight was a very good one as well.

Damn "Chino" a picture says a thousand words! If Victor is truly on another level from Maidana then why has he been constantly talking about Maidana since the Berto pre fight interviews? Ortiz needs to avenge his loss before he can get his manhood back, beat Maidana then tell everyone your'e on another level. You would think someone with Victor's struggled background would be more humble and not proclaim to be a top dawg especially since he just had a draw with Peterson. Show n Prove Vic!!!

Maidana aka Chino aka The Mercenary aka Majin Buu will haunt Ortiz forever until he rematches him.

Ortiz is doing everything in his power to discredit him.

I sense much fear in him.
