Comments Thread For: Oscar De La Hoya claps back with his own Golden Boy-Matchroom 5 versus 5 line-up
Oscar De La Hoya has announced the five fights he would like to make if his Golden Boy Promotions stable lock horns with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing in a 5 x 5 event.

Not gonna lie, actually some real good match ups I didn't expect these guys to mention, albeit it probably is because its not happening. I would want to see a combination of both, actually:
154 Boots vs Virgil Ortiz
135 Shakur vs Zepeda
200 Opetaia vs Ramirez
168 Munguia vs Pacheco
140 Catterall vs winner of Ramirez/Barboza
Multiple title fights including unification plus good young guys non-title. The last Catterall could probably be upgraded but if that is the "worst" match that is more than tolerable.
That being said I still dream of a 5 vs 5 Top Rank / Matchroom for next April (not happening, I know).
122 Inoue vs MJ
118 Nakatani vs Estrada (or better yet Bam...I know, not happening)
147 Norman Jr vs Boots
168 Mbilli vs Munguia
135 Keyshawn/Muratalla vs Shakur
The proposed card is mouthwatering although I cannot see Oscar agreeing to this and risking all his golden geese in one night on one card. I also suspect there will be a few divas avoiding these match ups by over pricing themselves out of it. You know what they say - if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
Why is either guy teasing the boxing public, knowing full well neither would actually agree to it. I mean seriously- even if a couple of these fights were signed, most of us would clear our calendars and send our ordering information in for the PPV now, much less 5 of these.

So true. Neither Eddie nor Oscar will agree to even two of these fights. It is just a social media tease kind of like pretty girl does to 20 guys in a bar.
I'm pretty sure a mix of both promoter's bouts would make a good card and be doable.
If Ramirez beats CBS next week, it won't be hard to make a fight with Opetaia who light years ahead of anyone else in the division. The good thing is that both Opetaia and Ramirez have big cojones and want to face each other.
