Marciano is the exact same size as Sandy Saddler, 5' 10" with about the same reach. Both men could belt out anyone they landed on, by buggery. Don't doubt it.

Joe not too good with words, & you can see he was just awful black. The cream colored Clay had a gift of gab. Trying it out on Joe was like trying it out on a horse. Poor awful black Joey, by buggery. He once spoke of pressurizing an opponent instead of pressuring him. Can you imagine if Rock had unleashed his natural power of verbiage on the likes of Charles, Walcott & Louis. Softened up so, why he might have killed them instead of merely brutalizing them.

It is amazing to me, a true miracle, a gift for our faculties...given generously by the most high whatever one conceives that to be...From very little footage so much information can be gleaned! Provided the eye is trained to look, and not to judge.

Whether Tyson was at his best, or not is a secondary consideration and no slight to Mike. The fact of the matter is, studying this little gif that Lom has presented to us...indicated in its totality!! the way Tyson was vulnerable. Conceived of by a brilliant boxing man (Don Turner) and executed by a fighter who might have been one of the greats, if he had always listened to his coaches! Holy listened when he fought Bowe the time he won, the other two times he fought the way he liked to fight...And Holly listened when he fought Tyson, no doubt aware of the potential for a bad night.

Leading up to this fight it was eerily similar in some regards to the Braddock Baer fight. Holy was getting old... Heart problems, washed up, too many slugfests. Tyson was out of prison and on track...He had started young and lost a few years but was going to make a statement. Like Braddock people were scared for Holly... Look at what had happened to Spinks when he had the nerve to be a boxer puncher and think he would handle the finest specimen in all of Brooklyn, forged from hard times, sadistic impulses, and the need to hurt things...Beauty pageant winners, fighters, cell mates... Both Baur and tyson were marginalized by sensationalist media depictions.

In reality? Mike Tyson was more a big child, a victim of people trying to control him as a means to an end...with very few having the courage to stand up to him, for his own good. When Ron Howard's film came out about the Baer Braddock fight and Max was villafied a similar picture emerged. That was a good thing...People actually found out about the real Max Baer because many individuals spoke out against the portrayal in the film. Mike Tyson in reality was very smart, a student of the game through and through, and if he had cracks in his armour, they had to be found... How did Holly find those cracks?

The gif is the clue! Mike Tyson's style was such that he could not fight going backwards, and like the man he sought to emulate, Jack Dempsey, when either man came forward, it took a mack truck to back them off... But if one could put them on their heels, and make keep them stationary, or thrown off backwards? their power was destroyed. Watch these two minifilms presented by Lomo here and keep that point in mind. We might all learn something By buggery!

                Good post.

The reason I posted them was an attempt to bring this forum back to reality. Because there’s no voices or faces to these posts, you have to keep in mind who is really voicing these opinions.

Most of him are kids in their early 20’s who have never stepped foot in a ring in their life.

With that said, the idea or notion that one of the greatest, and hardest hitting heavyweights of all time would get walked over by Tyson is flat out laughable.

I can't think of a single area where I would give the edge to Marciano. Even when it comes to their trainers that's basically a wash.
What about the part about the guy RETIRING in 1955???????

Only in a sport like boxing would this even be a debate

The idea that a fighter or any athlete for that matter who retired in the mid 50's could compete against 80's athletes in any capacity is even more laughable.
