Does anyone still think the old time heavyweights were too small to be competitive in the modern era?

Why is everyone mentioning Ali?
Both versions the '67 lightening fast dancing master or the early 70's stronger more battle hardened fighter would be favoured over every heavy or superheavy that ever lived.
The poster who favours 185 pound Marciano over everyone stated that Usk was small, not me.
I said RELATIVELY.
At 225 now he is a huge man.

Usyk is the exception not the rule.
How many small men have been victim to size differences ? Why would pre historic small boxers with literally no skills achieve what Usyk achieved?Anomalocaris likes this.

The idea that relative midgets like 185 pound Marciano (despite all the mythology) could outmuscle men 50 - 80 or so pounds heavier makes no sense.
From the late 80's (when Tyson was champ) with modern nutrition (another stone or so) only Liston, Ali, Foreman and Holmes would have great careers.

ShoulderRoll the thread starter is (still, despite being debunked in the first post of the thread) trying to claim Usyk is a small Heavyweight when he's the exact same size as Muhammad Ali, who is, not small.Anomalocaris Bronson66 like this.
