Tunney was a learner, an improver... If for no other reason than the social climb engendered.... and if one watches his boxing with the interesting aside of his Clannish chauvanism, he would give the floor to fighters, particularly Irish fighters! like Corbett. What emerged is a man who had encyclopedic knowledge of the sport that spanned two massive epoches. From the likes of men like Greb and Corbett, Tunney mastered preclassical distance, timing, the parry and setting traps... From men emerging from Dempsey's fantastic punching, Tunney learned squaring up, body shifting, and combo punching.

Tunney was slick and faced some tough dudes, but Beterbiev's power is insane. Size isn't everything in punching power.

And Beterbiev finds a way to deliver, despite not being very fast on his feet. He has an element of deception.

Experience in any enterprise allows patterns to be seen. A pattern I have seen often in 60 years of watching boxing is the pattern of meteors streaking across the boxing firmament. Most of those meteors burn up in the atmosphere, only a few reach terra firma.
