Why is this thread becoming about rap too?

Pantera is all about violence and acting hard

Motley Crue is all about women, drugs, and social status

It's not rap vs rock or a rap thing and not a rock thing or white vs black. Y'all must listen to some lame ass music period. Rap is not more violent than rock, rap is not more material than rock, rap doesn't degrade women more than rock, and rap doesn't focus on social status more than rock. Maybe if rock to you is just the Beach Boys or some such similar nonsense, which I don't dislike either, but this whole Rap is X then defend rap **** is boring me. This is the Rock thread, there's plenty of **** to talk about Rock as a beneficial music....like as if music needs to be preachy any ****ing way.

            This.

Some of the best music was written by degenerates with questionable values, regardless of genre.

Boxing, movies, or music, or anything that elicits a little bit of excitement is full of skethy people. Just the way sht is.

Rap is bleak and without soul???? Why make a general statement like that? Ever heard of 2pac, Beanie Sigel, Scarface, Freddie Gibbs,Style P just a short list of guys who made hella soul music.

Anybody can talk on a song? Another general ****** statement....Y'all call what Eminem does talking on a beat? Nas? Jadakiss? All the thousands of guys from the battle rap scene.

Quit saying rap ... And be specific...."Mainstream rap" that would fix your entire argument and I would be more inclined to agree with your sentiment.

Then you bring up those rappers who died, when two of them were known killers and the other
died from leaking his location and getting robbed by criminals which has nothing to do with rap.

Say it with me slow ..."MAINSTREAM HIP HOP"
I take your black and it’s your thing but still don’t take away the fact rap is mostly soulless , negative and even derogatory , violent.....of course we have talented rappers but they are like white rhinos almost extinct....2 of the biggest rappers in history died from the barrel of a gun , biggie , 2 pac , serge knight was a killer ....there are no other genres in music where the stars of that genre are killed by there followers.
that’s the facts with what rap music produces and gang warfare is a big part of it.
Rap music has a bad reputation end of story

Suge wasn't a killer lol. And you can't make a statement about the soul of the music when you don't listen to enough of it to say that ... You don't follow it.... And can't name any dudes outside of the popular ones.

Mainstream hip hop is mostly souless.... But not rap as a whole

It is easy to think of rock music as being angry and aggressive, but new research suggests that listening to hard rock could actually make you happier and healthier. Even heavy metal, which we associate with rage and mayhem, can provide balm for the soul and turn a bad mood into a positive one.

It all starts with them blues and jazz from the 1920's,but not just black, white guys like Frank Hutchison, The Skillet Lickers were playing them blues in 1926. Then it was simply evolution, Big Band, Swing, The first jazz band to record were white.

You need to spend some time grab a few books and educate yourself if music is your thing.

Anyone thinking anything about rock and roll is bad for anyone knows nothing about the music.

In my opinion the first rock & roll tune
