The only way for that to happen was to put it on PPV. Of course they are HOPING it's a huge success and that Gennady becomes a PPV attraction, but that wasn't the main motivation for making this fight PPV.

u have something for the casual and a p4p fight for the hardcore..
tickets supposed to transalate to ppv according to Richard S.
so if he is right then GGG will be a star that does not need a Bside

No buyer remorse, guaranteed. None of this holds for Ward.

The leverage that the mandatory challenger has over a voluntary, is that he can refuse to budge on the terms and the champ has to either participate in the purse bid at the full weight, or vacate / get stripped.
And seeing as how Canelo will enter the ring against Cotto weighing well over 170 pounds, he will hardly have any valid grounds to attempt to negotiate a catchweight. Even bringing it up would make him look like a fool trying to gain an advantage and the boxing media will crucify him over it.

Golovkin and Loeffler have already stated on numerous occasions that they will NEVER ACCEPT A CATCHWEIGHT for a MIDDLEWEIGHT fight under any circumstances.

I have seen those statements, but it is my opinion that should Cotto win and K2 is presented with a "157 or no fight" scenario from Cotto, if Abel and GGG are comfortable making 157 I believe they will do it, smash Cotto's face in, and win the lineal title in addition to the WBC title, instead of just letting Cotto vacate.
But thats just my opinion. is also my opinion that Cotto wont beat Canelo so this might all be moot lol
And the word "impose" is really just semantics. Cotto can indeed "impose" conditions should he beat Canelo. Sure, those conditions would not apply in a purse bid scenario, but nobody that I know believes for 1 second that this fight would ever go to bid. They will either make a deal, or Cotto will vacate. There will be no bid. And if they make a deal, I'd bet a steak dinner that Cotto will be "imposing" conditions on the weight, and a host of other things.....Last edited by OnePunch; 09-20-2015, 03:59 PM.

Ward has been calling for a fight with IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin, who Loeffler promotes. Ward says Loeffer and Golovkin are avoiding the fight and claimed Loeffler rejected an emailed offer for a 50-50 deal.

First it was..... " anyone from 154-168 "
Then it was..... " 168 and 50/50 "
Then it became..... " 164 and 50/50 "
Now it is..... " 164 and 50% is not good enough "
NOTE: And they made this statement BEFORE beating Lemieux, they didn't even wait until Golovkin was available before making such a comment.
FACT: Team Golovkin want nothing to do with Ward.
Ward needs to move on, nothing to see here !

Originally posted by HeroBando View PostGGG is willing to meet the small guy at his own weight, idiot. Dropping in weight is a big concession. Ward is willing to make no such concession despite his B side status. Not to mention Floyd is still a bigger scalp than GGG, in rep and far more in money stakes. Just take your butthurt elsewhere, you're useless here.
1) Ward knows Golovkin was willing to fight Froch/Chavez at 168
2) Ward cannot make 164
3) Golovkin knows that Ward cannot make 164, but he doesn't care

Who protects Golovkin while you sleep ?
