Regardless whether or not K2 would want it to go to a purse bid is not what we're talking about. The discussion is the weight IF it does go to a purse bid.
The WBC isn't going to rewrite their rules for mandatory catchweights just for Cotto/Canelo being that they could get sued. The last thing the WBC wants is another lawsuit, which they would lose. They've nearly gone bankrupt in the past which they will certainly try to avoid and this very same belt already had an ugly legal case with Rubio. Bottom line is that IF this goes to a purse bid it would be at 160 with a fair split based on their rules. Of course Cotto/Canelo would do everything they can to make it a catchweight, obviously by dishing out more money, and Golovkin would probably take a 157 or 158 cw, who knows.
The issue for the WBC and the winner is Golovkin being mandatory has been very public. It's been on the news. Everyone in boxing knows it. The WBC will have to be very careful or risk potential lawsuits.
did u not see the interview the wbc pres did..he said he had "no" baring on the weight of that fight...
get sued for writing their rules?? hahaha they are not fuggin promoters they are sanctioned by nothing but themselves and the state commissions..once the state comminssion who willg et paid as well gives the ok then everything is fine...
they've been in the news with floyd time and time again and wat happned all u clowns did was complain and they kpt right on with their ways...GGG is fightin at 155 or nothing!!! get that through your fuggin head..if cotto walks away from that fight who is going to care excpet for the cry baby GGG fans...nobody wants that fight but you all...
cotto walking away means the WBC gets a split of some weak fight that GGG is in...that wont be worth 5 million on regular hbo...when they ould have had a split of cotto's 20 million
money talks and your internet "they could be sued" BS walks

You can't discuss pro boxing without taking money into consideration.

lets try to find the last ppv fight that had a 2 guys that werent stars but p4p fighters and see how well it did im sure there are some out there...
and remember GGG is a star
GGG is a rising star, but not an established PPV star like Canelo who can afford stinkers on PPV and have people come back for more. Maybe he'll get there, but won't be easy since he lacks any ethnic following unlike most of the recent PPV stars.

u have something for the casual and a p4p fight for the hardcore..
tickets supposed to transalate to ppv according to Richard S.
so if he is right then GGG will be a star that does not need a Bside

Just take your butthurt elsewhere, you're useless here.

Roy Jones said he was leaving the division and drop his title, so they had Graciano Rocchigiani fight Nunn for the #1 spot, Graciano Rocchigiani won. Roy Jones had a change of heart and decided he wasn't going to leave the division, so the WBC RE-WROTE THEIR RULES and made Jones #1 again. Rocchigiani sued the WBC and won $30,000,000, which almost destroyed the WBC who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy the following day. They only exist to this day because they were able to settle with Rocchigiani outside of court for about $15-$20 million dollars.
So yes, rewriting their own rules can and has got them in major trouble. It's bizarre to know that you believe they are some untouchable entity given their lengthy history of legal troubles.Last edited by ИATAS; 09-20-2015, 03:26 PM.

Yes getting sued, like they have multiple times before in the past and in several cases lost. Very recently they had a legal case with Rubio, which he ultimately won and is why he was elevated back to mandatory which is why Golovkin fought him. They nearly went bankrupt involving Roy Jones.

you are wasting your time trying to get through to that idiot. Even when confronted with FACTS, he is content to act like a 5 year old with his fingers in his ears saying "la la la la la la I cant hear you"
I gave up. I suggest you do the same my friend......lol
