I dont see Cotto as a hall of famer, he just has not done enough maybe as far as popular fighting or PPV I guess, but I just dont see it....he is good but not great IMO

Isn't Cotto's best wins Judah, Mosley , Martinez?

Margarito 2 was a good win. By round 9 Cheatos head was starting to snap back.

lets look at Cotto's losses:

Plasterito- enough said. His trainer admitted to using inserts like the ones they found on previous fights. Both got suspended and their licenses revoked

Pac- Possible PEDs.. who knows. Cotto also didn't have anybody in the corner and that Cotto hasn't made 145 since he first came up to welterweight (oh he made 146 before... keep thinking that one lb south doesnt make a difference, but either way cotto accepted the fight)

floyd- floyd still says it was his toughest fight. I gave cotto 4 rounds in that one fight. I personally didn't like that the ref let floyd hold Cotto's arm for more than 10 seconds at one point in the fight. Other than that there's really no shame in losing to floyd.

Trout- Trout did his thing. IMO, Cotto probably thought he was "easy work" as some people would say it, mix that with cotto trying to outbox an obvious larger and more rangier fighter spelled disaster for that particular fight.

Now lets look at some of his wins:

justin jukko- TKO'd jukko who was 36-6 and cotto only had 9 pro fights.

Cezar Bazan- TKO'd bazan who had a record of 39-5 & cotto only had 13 pro fights

Victoriano Sosa- TKO'd sosa who had a record of 37-3 & cotto only had 18 pro fights (also came 3 fights after floyd outpointed sosa)

Lovemore Ndou- Decisioned Ndou who had a record of 38-6 & cotto had a record of 19 pro fights

Ricardo Torres- undefeated power puncher. (great fight btw)

Gianluca branco- Cotto 1st and only fighter to stop branco who had a record of 36-1 & cotto had a record of 25-0

Paul Malignaggi- we know who he is... no power but can outbox fighters

Carlos Quintana- TKO Quintana (who later beat paul williams 2 fights later)

Zab Judah- Crushed judah (it was judah's 2nd fight after he fought floyd)

Shane Mosley- Beat mosley (brush will deny this lol)

Joshua Clottey- beat clottey (I had the fight 114-113 for cotto, brush will deny and give the 1st round 10-8 to clottey even tho cotto got the knockdown)

There is too many factors in this match up such as style make fight, weight advantage to Canelo depending which weight class they fight in, Canelo improved since Mayweather loss etc.

Honestly I am sure this Cotto vs Canelo match up gets made this year. I think most boxing expertise going to pick Canelo and that also depends on how Cotto does against Geale.

Cotto gave Floyd a tough fight but he wasn't able to hurt Floyd with any of the flush left hooks he landed and Floyd fought Cotto completely differently than Canelo cuz he gave Canelo's speed and power much more respect than Cotto. He actually knew he could stay in the pocket longer and give and take a little bit to make the Cotto fight more exciting where as Canelo was trying to take his head off with everything but he kept missing cuz Floyd was too slick and fast.

And there was no white wash in that Canelo fight, Canelo was 23 and boxed with the best boxer in the world and I thought he still pulled off 4 rounds which is impressive and something important to take away from that fight even tho the strategy was ******. Where as Cotto got the fight he wanted from Floyd but only won 3 rounds imo

As far as the article goes it's pretty surprising no one bothers to read the articles and go off the title.He was asked whether he had anything to prove to Canelo and GGG after their dominant victories, and obviously he shouldn't be concerned with what other fighters are doing and solely focused on his fight. Nor should he be concerned about looking dominant simply because the other guys got ko's.

So what im getn from Cottofans is that Cotto has accomplished enough and he shouldnt have to defend his title against top level guys? Cotto, the MW Champ shouldnt have to fight the obvious #2 MW?

Uh Mayweather never said that, do you actually have a source or do you make up quotes for your own convenience. Floyd praised Canelo and Cotto both, he respects Canelo a lot and same with Cotto. And how they did against Floyd doesn't determine whos better...Manny basically destroyed everyone that Floyd face except Marquez yet Floyd dismantled Manny with greater ease than Maidana so relax with the triangle theories.

I think Cotto gives Canelo hell but at the same time Canelo poses a huge threat to Cotto as well, he's got issues with guys that can punch and have speed, we know Cotto can be hit, and Canelo has power in both hands a long with speed and skill and he's got a seemingly big size advantage to deal with as well

Geale is soft competition at any weight , and I don't give a damn what his ranking is . Geale isn't better than Curtis Stevens , Monroe or Gabe Rosado , period ! Cotto is currently perpetrating a complete fraud to the world of boxing . He is an illusion wrapped in a masquerade , d****d in an inigma . Who is the real Cotto ? The real Cotto is the guy we saw get dominated by Trout . His fight against Martinez was a sham as Martinez either threw that fight or truly had a crippling leg injury which he knew would prevent him from winning . That last guy who Cotto KOed was a taxi cab driver I think . Hopefully he's out of rabbits feet as au****ious circumstances seem to follow his career . Even Mayweather helped him look good by choosing to stay on the ropes to make the bout seem competitive . Cotto seems to constantly be able to reinvigorate himself as a formittable top notch guy , and frankly it's sickening . He so reminds me of that Japanese food engineering program where they found a way to convert fecses into edible food . I pray Geale's lack luster azz can expose him , but I doubt he can as he's just a tomato .
