The reason that Cotto is not willing to commit to Alvarez or Golovkin is because he knows that if Algieri beat Khan on Friday night, he will become Mayweather's opponent of choice for TBE's final fight. Given that option and the chance to make twice as much as he would make fighting Alvarez and 10 times as much as he would make fighting Golovkin, I would do the same thing that Cotto is doing.

Yup ^^
Cotto has EARNED the right to select a PPV opponent if the opportunity presents itself..... he could fight Mayweather, and then Canelo..... meaning that a potential Golovkin fight would likely be 18 months away.
But that is fine..... during that timeframe, Golovkin can do the exact same thing at 168..... he could fight Froch, and then Ward
So let’s see since his win against an old Shane Mosley coming off of admitting to using PED’s, Cotto has beaten:
Alfonso Gomez
Micheal Jennings
Joshua Clottey (close fight)
Yuri Foreman
Ricardo Mayorga
Antonio Margarito (post Pacquaio fight with one eye)
Delvin Rodriguez
Sergio Martinez (Year layoff, two knee surges, wrong side of 40)
and has lost to:
Antonio Margarito (ill give him the plaster wraps excuse for this one)
Pacquiao
May weather Jr.
Austin Trout
Seems like he wins the fights he should win and when things are in his favor but loses when he steps up to better competition.

That fight will never happen now that Cotto has signed with RocNation. JayZ and Haymon straight up hate each other going back to when Al screwed Jay over big time over a concert deal. Those two will never work together, Cotto/Jr 2 ain't happening.
