I honestly believe that when a fighter reaches a point in his career where he is "satisfied" and no longer believes that he has anything left to prove in the sport,he should just retire. What's going on here is cotto living off of things that he did years ago,and using his veteran status to try and bully newer fighters. The honest fact of the matter is that cotto gets stopped by both GGG,and canelo, and he will use every advantage he's got (catch weight, fight at Madison square gardens, demand larger split of the purse) in order to make the fights more difficult to happen. Meanwhile he's fighting the guy that GGG demolished inside of 3 rounds, and he's acting like if bringing the guy down to a catchwieght, while being the lineal champ is perfectly normal. If you don't want to test yourself anymore, just vacate the belt and retire.

LOL I agree. Cotto is big on being stubborn when he feels he is not being respected or appreciated. There is bitterness there too perhaps from Top Rank jerking him around financially. I accept it as who he is... We have such people in all walks of life. Stubborn til the death.

Triangle theories do not work in boxing.

        Styles make fights.

Geale > Murray, and he beats him head-to-head.

BTW, we are quibbling over nothing, which proves that there is nothing between GGG/Cotto's resume IF Cotto gets by Geale.
Not saying Murray would beat Geale or applying triangle theory. I thought we were debating how much better win over Murrray is? Murray is a better win for several reasons like I mentioned in my previous post.

You started to talk about Geale and I already replied about GGG/Cotto's resume topic.

so IMO cotto needs huge wins to prove himself, I'd say it he beats canelo and GGG and possibly defend his title with a top MW then yes I can see a chance possibly

Was he? I remember Cotto's punch stats raising and landing more in that round too.. soo..

It was not, both of those guys were ranked #3.

Alexander and Collazo were not ranked #3.

Collazo was shot, and Alexander is not even currently ranked in the top 10.

Brook and Thurman are both more deserving than Khan.

Also, Brook and Thurman were not decapitated by Danny Garcia.

Also, neither of those guys ducked Kell Brook, like Amir Khan did

But, keep fighting the good fight

That middleweight tournament took three Don King fighters and Hopkins willing to sign a 6 fight deal with Don King to make it happen.
Only names like Cotto fight whoever they want and can anyone else in middleweight do that? Quillin had to fight Lee to win a belt. Ndam fighting Lemieux for other belt. So yes, I'll go with my theory because boxers will be forced to fight Golovkin if he unifies all belts.

That is not the mentality of a champion. Of you are the best or claim to be, you take the biggest challenge. Cotto is a paper champion at middleweight.

Choosing to and having to are 2 different things. Again. Had Golovkin been given that title a year ago, would we have seen any of the fights you mentioned or would he still be in the same position he is now?

                      OK, fair point.

But I think the really relevant part was my last comment.....

" BTW, we are quibbling over nothing, which proves that there is nothing between GGG/Cotto's resume IF Cotto gets by Geale "

The assertion that Golovkin has this killer resume, and Cotto is only fighting bums..... is a long way from the truth..... in reality, after Geale, Cottos record at MW will be ordinary, and Golovkins will be slightly better than ordinary, but not by much..... thats all I'm saying man.

To bash a legend, while hyping a guy who - at best - is clearly in no hurry to challenge himself.... is fanboy shht imho..... thats all Im saying.
