This fight hinges completely on Sergio's health. Cotto fans may not like it, but it's the truth. P4P they're about equal. Make one a middleweight and the other a welterweight and that's a bad, bad matchup for the welterweight.

Cotto is younger and fresher?! He's younger but I'd say he's more shop worn. His face is gonna rip apart faster than wet toilet paper

I don’t know if Martinez is getting knocked out, because Cotto might not be able to bring his power up with to 159, but he will win this fight fairly easily. I'd be shocked if Martinez won more than 3 rounds.
If Martinez wins tonight, I wont post on here for 3 months, thats how confident I am.

Cotto is a tough guy to avoid in the ring. He isn't fleet footed but he knws the angles and how to cut the ring down. Martinez does have to be able to hurt Cotto with his power, no doubt.
I think the fight will suprise everyone and become a close gruelling decision that is a toss up. Cotto getting hit/ambushed Martinez getting beat up on the ropes. Martinez is big enough to deal with Cotto's power for twelve rounds and Cotto can take a shot or two from Martinez without wilting. If this were a fifteen rounder like the old days Cotto would take it. Which is why I hate twelve rounders

I feel like to have any certainty about this fight is to believe in certain unknowables that the world outside of Sergio Martinez and Miguel Cotto have no insight into.
Is Sergio 100%? We don't know.
Is Miguel actually improving under Roach? We can't say for sure.
To harp on Martinez's last shaky performance against Murray, and not admit that Miguel Cotto was not able to get it done against Austin Trout- a type of guy we KNOW Cotto could have handled a few years prior- isn't fair.
To say "Miguel just didn't train hard enough for Trout" is basically the same as saying "Sergio was just hobbled by injury with Murray".
To say Miguel trained harder and is the Cotto of old is more or less saying Martinez has recuperated from all surgeries and is close to the Maravilla of old. We just don't know. None of us on these forums can know.
It's the entire reason this fight is so intriguing. Perhaps after the first 3 minutes we can all see where each guy stands, but at this point we're all making guesses as to how much Cotto and how much Martinez have left.
All we have for CERTAINTY is the Cotto who couldn't get past Trout and the Martinez who couldn't outclass Murray.
Everything past that is pure speculation.
