Wilder and Kirkland are more exciting fighters than GGG, are they stars as well or do you need tv ratings to tell you the answer?!?....people love aggressive knock out hunters right?!?....so what's stopping the same supporters of GGG from showing the same support to Wilder and Kirkland?!?.....or is it something else?!?.....school me Einstein since you know the answers I don't....enlighten me, but remember, if you decide to try to shed someone light, you must be able to endure burning.....so brighten this thread up with some real talk!!
So Rigo beats the best in his weight class, BUT he's not a star. But Garcia and Stevens ARE. So why don't you explain how come Rigo isn't a "star". He fits your criteria.

Are you really trying to play the racist card here? Maybe fans don't support Kirkland because he was KOd by ISHIDA? Didn't you think about it? You don't have to be Einstein to get that. lol

Swift fought arguably the most anticipated fight of 2013 against a real fighter like Matthysse on the undercard of the biggest selling PPV

The key word is selling. If you have no one watching your fights, who cares about your resume?! (Again Rigo says hello)

Well I suppose anything is possible. This is boxing after all. I'm just going with what fits the interests of the fighters and networks and what has the highest % of happening.

Golovking is a B level fighter who's been fighting C level and lower class opposition.

Golovkin has already ducked top level boxers 3 TIMES... Lara, Dirrell, Ward.

That overhyped ducking can crushing machine with p4p worst champion's resume should find his balls out and fight a guys i just mentioned above otherwise he's being a pusy.

too bad some on here can't look at things like a rational adult. it's obvious Golovkin is getting a HUGE push from HBO. now whether it's deserved or not remains to be seen.

K2 and HBO created the hype saying GGG would fight anybody from 154-175. They said that not anybody else. Ward never called out anybody. After the Super 6 people were saying Martinez should move up and fight Ward. Martinez said he wasn't big enough for 68 and Ward agreed and that was that.

Ward's been nothing but a gentleman throughout the process. Ward's actually earned his spot at 68. Golovkin is still making a name for himself. He'll be there if he's the real deal but he doesn't deserved to be put up at the top without earning it.

When everybody at 54 was ducking Martinez, Martinez jumped up to 160 and fought Paul Williams on a few weeks notice. Martinez didn't have the push Golovkin had so he had to take risks to earn his spot. if Golovkin were so avoided he'd fights guys like Lara who are calling him out, he'd take the risk but instead he's fighting the Adama's of the world.

everybody knows why he won't take any risks now is because his Martinez shot is coming up, everything has been building to that fight at the end of the year.

Many people were on the Kirkland bandwagon. And he still gets good ratings, as was the case in his last fight.
The reason people stopped paying as much attention to him was because he was so inactive.
They guy was arrested, had a fallout with his trainer, got KO'd, then had a huge dispute with his promoter which pretty much has kept him from getting more exposure.
GGG is not only hurting and stopping people, who've never been stopped before, he is also doing it every 3 months. You stay active, you stay current. Simple as that.

Who was ducking Martinez? Before he fought Williams few people knew who he was.

Lara fights on Showtime with GBP. GGG has a contract with HBO.
Can't fight the guy due to this, and Lara is smart enough to know this. The question you should be asking is why Lara, if he's serious about fighting at 60, isn't calling out Quillin who is promoted and fights on the same network he does.

Is it? GGG either loses and becomes for the casual fan who doesn't understand just what a big challenge he faced, just another Jeff Lacy, or wins and suddenly has no-one credible to face except the very elite at SMW or moving up to LHW.

I'm anticipating he has perhaps 15 - 20 fights left in him, and neither of the above sounds like a good option to me, much as I'd love to see a GGG - Ward fight this year.

GGGs team are pacing him and with justification - I'd love a Bika fight say, but the moment he got a SMW belt any fight at 160 (outside perhaps Maravilla) becomes irrelevent - we're all aware of the trap Ward has fallen into since dominating the super 6 - in essence his career has stagnated.

Unfortunately, there just ain't masses of big money fights out there, which leaves fighters in the ridiculous situation that too much success, too quickly can actually harm their long term careers.

                  people want to see knockouts.

not the second coming of borenard hopkins minus the personality.

Ward is boring inside and outside of the ring.

You cant be both and expect to be a star.

GGG will become a much bigger star than Ward. All he needs is a cotto or sergio fight and he would have already surpassed Ward in popularity.

nobody wants to see Ward fight while everybody is clamoring to see GGG fight.

The thing that kills me about a lotta these GGG fanboys is how big a hypocrites they are. They talk about GGG KO'n inferior competition as if its a great thing. They talk about his TV ratings. They talk about how its OK for him to stay at 60 when there's no interesting fights available there for him. Yet, this time last year, these same people were criticizing Adrien Broner. He was KO'n inferior opposition. Even though his resume was better than GGGs. He was being hyped as boxing's next superstar, and getting ridiculous TV ratings. The difference with AB and GGG, AB was willing to move up, two divisions at that, in order to make better events and more interesting match-ups. After Rees, what if AB had simply made his mandatory against Omar Figeroua. I know I know, AB's a bum. But his bumass would a beat the living **** outta Figeroua. And instead of fooling with a puncher like Maidana. What if he had stuck around and fought a unification with someone like Vazquez, Abril, or Burns, who ducked him like a plague. I know I know. AB's a bum. But neither of those guys can crack an egg. And I'm thinking all would be solid underdogs that had a good chance of being walked down by the bigger, stronger, harder punching AB. But to his credit, AB after being criticized for fighting Rees. Who BTW was rated higher as a lightweight when AB fought him than anyone GGG has fought to date. But to his credit, AB was willing to go up and make more interesting fights. It was a calculated risk that appears to have failed. But at least he had the balls to do it. To this point, GGG hasn't. #endthread

You're right about a lot of stuff, but I disagree with the bold statement.
Ward has been stagnant mostly due to his own doing. After the super six he had an opportunity to fight Bute, which at the time would have been a huge fight, he chose not to.
After Froch beat Bute he had an opportunity to rematch Froch in England for another huge payday, he chose not to. He could move up to 175 easily and fight Stevenson, for another big money fight, he chooses not to. He was also injured for a year, is having a dispute with his promoter, calling out Chavez for a fight but discrediting it when Froch wants it.......so I would say a lot of it is his fault.
