Golovkin is not a bigger star that Ward. He is a bigger hype job than Ward and today's boxing fans love a great hype job because hype jobs KO fighters who have no business being in the same ring with them. Stars, on the other hand, fight the best opponents and defeat them. Golovkin has never beaten a top 5 fighter from any weight division. When top 5 fighters like Lara, Hopkins, Froch and Ward called him out, he makes excuses and declines the fights. Ward has beaten every top five fighter in his division as well as the top fighter at 175. That is what a star does.

Matthysse was considered a bigger star and drew higher ratings than Danny Garcia because he was KO'ing inferior opponents. Ricky Hatton was considered a huge star when he was knocking out hapless opponents. However, when they got in the ring with a real star, they both had their ass.es handed to them.

The same thing will happen to GGG if he ever dares to step in the ring with an opponent from 154 to 175 who is a real star.

And yet, it's Ward who's complaining about Golovkin being touted as a star. That's what the title of this forum says. If Ward's the bigger star and he knows it, what does he care if people say GGG is? Sounds like Andre's a little insecure of his position, and yeah, a little jealous of GGG.

GGG is clearly the bigger star, but not the better fighter. You are in denial. Naming his resume has nothing to do with facts, which is that he IS a bigger draw then ward. Nobody is talking about his resume, or who would win the fight. We are talking about star power.

Golovkin doesn't want it right now. What can we do?

You can't force a man to fight if he's afraid.

Im sure Ward is a little jealous.. I mean he cant even sellout in his home team... but I do agree that GGG is a little overhyped.. and i actually like him.. i just want to see him in real fights... similiar to how i felt with canelo... but Canelo is like 10 years younger than GGG... This guy is the same age as Cotto... can we compare those 2 resumes please?

I'll be the first to say that I can't stand Ward and his business antics and I'll be one to say that GGG is pretty entertaining to watch; however, I can't call Ward a hype job. He's a great, albeit boring, fighter. The man can box.

That said, he's probably feeling a little jaded with the amount of positive attention GGG receives and amount of criticism he gets.

I don't think he's afraid. He's waiting to fight martinez. Which is the logical thing to do.

And Calzage, and Cotto (does he count as white), and Ricardo Lopez, and Kostya Tsyzu, and JMM, and Ivan Calderon just to name a few non-blacks I "supported."
