    It depends, really.

Some fighters can, some fighters can't.

It all depends on you as a fighter. Sometimes a fighter who is technically sound can still perform well in their late 30's, sometimes they can't.

Same goes for brawlers sometimes. But, more often not.

The thing is, we just don't know how long Mayweather can perform well.

All I know is, if the Mayweather that fought Mosley comes out, he can beat Ortiz, easy.

Mayweather has slipped and is past his prime, but he hasn't hit that 'rapid decline hill' yet. Atleast not until we find out on Saturday.

Don't be surprised to see Ortiz match Floyd's speed & pressure him constantly, don't be surprised to see Floyd hurt & wobbled quite a few times. When the final bell sounds, don't be surprised to here Floyd declared the winner even though after watching the fight you feel that Ortiz actually beat him.

Bookmark this, if I'm wrong I'll admit it, I always do. But I have a feeling deep down in my guy Ortiz will give Floyd 1 if not the toughest fight of his career & he may even win too.
Im right there with you. Even though Floyd has his potshots and his defense I think that youth will show itself in Ortiz. Dude came in and manhandled Berto. Outgunned him, out-energized him, came out blazing and hungry.

If Floyd can tame that guy, major props.

Key sentence there. Especially if he decides to fight once a year--his fall from grace will look sudden when it's been in the making for a while.

Its hard to gauge where floyd will be because he hasn't taken all the punishment other fighters his age/experience have taken.

You really think Hatton was faster than Ortiz is, well good for you!!

Mayweather does relie and reflexes and timing alot.

              Then again so does Hopkins.

Harold Johnson's success relied on reflexes and ability to time his jab and use in and out footwork.

Harold Johnson had a short reach for a LHW yet he was NEVER outjabeed because he had that natural ability.

Yet, at 35 years old, and in clear decline, he was beating the HOF'er Willie Pastrano around the ring for 15 Rounds in his absolute prime.

Sometimes, a fighter can just still perform in their mid 30's.

Mayweather might be one of those guys. We'll have to see.

Of course it's possible. Just not likely. The day Floyd loses...wow. History.

Dunn, you're addressing me, a real fan of boxing, I don't get down like that.

                    We'll see.

I think if Floyd keeps fighting and taking lay-offs then he will lose.

But, I don't think this Saturday is his time.

I don't see Ortiz winning more than 4 rounds.

You know what? Like I said, I just never bet on a fighter over 34. Not that I think Ortiz will win but...ehh, I've been a boxing fan for too long . Anyway, Ortiz doesn't have the brainpower to compete with Floyd but for some reason, I feel as if that may help him. If you put a gun to my head I'd pick Floyd to stop him. But nothing that happens will surprise me.
