Ortiz is a live opponent but only for the first few rounds, once Mayweather figures out his rhythm it will be game over. Berto and Maidana both got to Ortiz's chin so i expect Mayweather to find it with ease.
Floyd already knws his rhythm, just look at the Ortiz VS Berto fight and you can c why Floyd pick him to fight. Ortiz rocks back and forth then charges in or throws a punch.

Even if he has regressed in terms of reflexes and speed wise, his style of Boxing can still be effective because it can still neutralizes most other Boxers best weapons who aren't as fundamentally sound.

With overall decline in boxing knowledge by fans comes a decline in what people are willing to pay for so fighters feel they don't need to develop those skills. Its just like what happened to the NBA most teams kept drafting athletes who could run and jump out the gym but didn't really have fundamental skills and understand basketball so the quality of the product went down. The samething is has been happening in boxing. Look at the comments on this board. A fighter that has fundamental boxing skills and defense with little one punch KO power is considered boring. But a no skill having face first brawler with one punch KO power is considered great.
Fans have always wanted to see blood and guts, its nothing new. Have you watched boxing? When ever you see a brawl on TV these days that's when the commentators are always talking about how they're fighting in an old school way. And clearly you have no idea what skill is, if you're referring to Pacman in your last sentence.

Guess what, these boards don't matter. PPV numbers do. And according to what people actually do with their wallets, they like watching highly skilled fighters.

And about the NBA. In the NBA right now this is the era of the point gaurd. There are more HOF ATG point gaurds playing right now than at any 1 time in history. Point gaurd is the most high IQ position in the game, clearly they aren't teaching any basketball fundamentals to the players...

Regardless, the art of boxing is becoming endangered. Guys today just do not know the nuances like guys of yesteryear.

I agree, that's why the Europeans are making a strong comeback in the sport, because they are fundimentally sound. Hands up, chin tucked, working behind the jab. They may not have the athlethicism, but they make up for it with sound fundimentals.

Never said fans haven't always wanted to see blood and guts. But fans overall respected all aspects of boxing not just one which what is happening now. That is not what commentators considered old school. They say they are laying it all on the line in a toe-to-toe fashion but they don't automatically equate a brawl to old school boxing. That was just a dumb ass comment.

There are 5 positions on the floor at 1 time in the NBA and you chose one to try and make your point. GTFOH with that. Point guard is the hot position no doubt but shooting guards can't shoot, and power forwards and center have no post moves what so ever. So please explain that then?

Anyway, Ortiz doesn't have the brainpower to compete with Floyd but for some reason, I feel as if that may help him. If you put a gun to my head I'd pick Floyd to stop him. But nothing that happens will surprise me.
                  Yeah, for me it depends.

I mean, whatever the age, If I think the fighter has what it takes at that age to win, then I'll bet him.

I bet on Hopkins to beat Pascal recentyl for example and many many many other times.

It all depends really. History shows that.

And as for Saturday, I don't see it. I would be very very shocked if the fight was close.

I have to admit that if Ortiz is competitive with Floyd, i will be surprised.

I personally think Floyd is out to prove himself and will stop Ortiz.
