If JMM had that big a following, he would have been able to do bigger numbers with Barerra and Casamayor. JMM, just like Mosley did by far their biggest PPV numbers with Mayweather. Hell, de la Hoya did by far his biggest numbers with Mayweather. I think its time to just accept that Mayweather is a megastar and a helluva fighter. I mean seriously, everything he does successful is matched with one excuse after another. He beats someone that was given a good chance of beating him going in and all of a sudden it was wrong with the opponent. Someone doubles what they've previously done in PPv with him, and all of a sudden they were the ones who pushed the promotion. The only common denominator in these ass whippins' and massive PPV results is Mayweather. If a person doesn't like him fine. Just admit that he's an assh*le, along with being a helluva fighter and huge draw.

Barerra was the A-side of that equation at the time and I can't speak to the circumstances with the marketing of his fight with Casamayor, but I imagine the marketing budget for that fight must have been doled out in pesos.

With Mayweather, Marquez had the added benefit of having mass promotion via HBO 24/7. I'm a firm believer that HBO 24/7 plays a lot into these big numbers. He's the best fighter of the last 15 years no question about it, yes I have affectionately dubbed him captain douchery and yes he is a huge draw, how that plays into negotiating a fight with Pac I disagree on the numbers being so much of a tipping point as not to make the fight happen.

Ok but everytime the fight is pretty much made, and he brings in a new road block....people dont care about money or crap like that, we wanna see the fight and to keep bringing in new demands is ridiculous....

I think its all posturing - by BOTH sides - whether its testing, venue, money, glove selection, etc. all a part of the negotiations. I think the fight will be made and concessions made by both parties. You cant blame either party for wanting more money - plus if you dont ask you dont get, so if he doesnt get a larger slice of the pie, you can bet your bottom dollar that he will get something else he wants and the same for Pac. And requesting his opponent to be clean/tested is not a roadblock, its SMART. Pac is the roadblock.

This is yet another part of the unglamorous side to boxing, the "negotiations." The fact is Mayweather goes into these talks in a stronger position than he was in when negotiations fell apart during the first attempt to make boxing richest fight. I don't think it's reasonable to come back to the negotiating table with the same set of expectations you had prior to the last performances of both fighters. That sort of reasoning makes no sense, because the fact is over both fighters last two fights, it's Pacquiao that's dropped while Mayweather's has increased in value aka PPV sales. Overall, his stock has risen while Pacquiao's has essentially stayed the same.

I'm not sure why Mayweather's camp would go in with the same mentality they had before PBF's last fight, this is business. And I don't get the double standard that's at work here. Pacquiao gets to make whatever accommodations for his side he wishes when he has the leverage, but if Mayweather does the same thing he's trying to duck the fight? Like it or not there's a certain amount of leverage that comes with the dollars he is able to generate. It's common sense at its most sensible.

This business of the Pacquiao camp crying foul in public over the last several days is indeed unseemly, but it's all part and parcel of the politics of boxing. They know their leverage has eroded so they hope going public with all the details of the negotiations will somehow coerce the Mayweather camp into a position more favorable to themselves. But in my way of thinking bitching to the media won't change the fact that they can't dictate the terms of the fight anymore.

You also understand the business side of this! Unlike many of the Pac fans I see posting and claiming Floy dis ducking. Now please PM your post to every Pac fan so they can read it slowly.lol

Broham, I don't think even the biggest ***** would agrue that Pac isn't popluar. But popular isn't what matters when it comes to who's the bigger draw. 24/7 is a good tool, but it doesn't promise that a a promotion is gonna be successful. Calzage-Jones tanked. Pacquaio had 24/7 with de la Hoya nd Hatton and Mayweather outdid him 2:1 with the same opponents. Pacqauio-Cotto had 24/7, Mayweatehr-Mosley outdid it. I don't think your being realistic bro. Mayweather is just a bigger draw than Pac anyway you look at it and is in no way outta line for asking to be compensated for it a potential promotion.

LATE LAST YEAR.. AFTER PAC BEAT COTTO made 1.25 MIL and FLOYD BEAT MARQUEZ made 1.0 MIL... DID PAC ASK FOR MORE THAN 50-50 back in this year's FEBRUARY NEGOTIATIONS ?!?!?!? Besides, FLOYD is RICH already, throwing away an opportunity to be GREATER and take down a TOP DAWG in his era.
