I give twice the amount of credit of those who move up in weight and collecting multiple belts specially there is lineal title along with it. There's no need to argue that these are more difficult to accomplish as you are not only facing a bigger stronger man but the man who beat the man who beat the man. Doing it without any tune up when he moved up and defy the ancient saying "Good little man will always beat by a good bigger man" will only enhanced farther more their legacy as what Pac doing right now.

Dominating one weight class for a long time is kinda easy if you compare to moving up in weight and collecting multiple belts because the champ on his comfortable weight will just wait to someone will move up who usually the smaller man or someone who move down but drained himself in the process.

Since this seems to be up for debate, I've added a poll.

Its Pernell IMO but not by miles like some on here claim. Pernell has a solid resume but its not legendary by any means...

Whitaker- Ramirez(past prime),Azumah Nelson very good fighter hall of famer, Buddy McGirt pretty good fighter not great, Haugen, Vasquez, shudda got the W against Chavez

Pacquiao- Barrera, Hatton, drained Morales, old drained DLH, Ledwaba, Marquez

Pernell would give Pac fits if they fought btw...

If you're talking about greatness its pacquiao...

I can agree somewhat with Champ's post anyways; there is no reason to deny a modern fighter greatness simply based on a volume of record and Pac may well deserve to be top 30 already. It's incredibly tough to get that high for a reason. I've seen cases for guys like PBF, Hopkins, Jones etc. as similarly high. Considering the number of pros over the years, it's unlikely five or six of the top 30 fought in the last decade.

The men with volume who sit near the top all time do it because they also showed they could handle every style and had a depth of opposition which is staggering. It's a tough mountain for a modern to climb.
i guess im dumb to think that a 1920 boxer would get outboxed by an 2009 boxer. My bad, thought i was titled to My Own Opinion.

And early boxers where flat footed. Only Few bounced. They weren't boxers to box, they were in the ring to fight, because thats all they wanted to see back then. I beat if Pernall Whitaker was in a fight back then, they'd boo him off the ring for running around. Same with floyd

This will fall into woulda, coulda, shoulda caterogy right now.

Before these fights some people said that Barrera, JMM, Morales, Oscar and Hatton woulda, coulda, shoulda whoop Pac ass but we saw what happened.

Marquez gave Pacquiao all he could handle. He edged out a close decision in the 2nd fight.

Pac couldn't find Pernell on a map or with help from a tour guide...

That is what you called ass whooping in a close fight that can go in either way? Ass whooping is what Pac did to Barrera I, Morales III, Oscar and Hatton or knocking down JMM 5 times was less to say.

Pernell is a great fighter but this fight with Pac will fall in coulda, woulda, shoulda category if you know what I mean.

Pernell Whitaker. Come on guys! For all who are anti-pbf sure are doing him a huge favor by hyping pacq this high. pacq is good no doubt about that, but he is far from great.
Well you could argue that Pea didnt beat Chavez. Since he actually didnt.

Not saying I agree with the descision but its a fact.
