But my point is what does the fact that both Joe and Roy being "past their primes" (though I think Calzaghe is the best he's ever been as a complete fighter) say about how they would fight each other Prime 4 Prime as some people have suggested? Some guys age terribly, which is why Jones should be knocked down a historical peg due to lack of longevity but his Prime abilities should never be questioned.

    But Joes should?

I fail to see how that is objective reasoning.

What's your point then Marciano, M Spinks, Hagler and Mayweather Jr. are great fighters but those above aren't?

Do you see me making excuses for any fighters after a loss?

      Nope.

Btw, I've never said Roy wasn't a great fighter.

      Not a single time.

Posts like this are why you get no respect.

Nobody else in the history of the sport had a combination of power, speed, accuracy, reflexes, etc etc?

        Nobody at all?

        Thats why you're stans.

I also believe that Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson would've beaten Roy Jones in his prime.

What this fight proved to me was that Calzaghe's hands are in even worse shape than I originally thought they were but other than that he is still in great form.

Roy Jones I already knew was done as a top fighter a long time ago.

No. Prime Roy was not "unstoppable." It was a great illusion. In boxing, illusions are eventually destroyed. We've seen this before. Holyfield's exposure of Tyson is just the most obvious example. This is exactly why Mayweather was so smart to retire.

Last night, Calzaghe finally settled the issue in dominant fashion. In the end, it will be Calzaghe that will retire as undefeated champion of the world, arguably the greatest of his generation, instant Hall of Famer, and All Time Great.

Sorry fellas, Calzaghe is the winner.

Actually, Bruno exposed Tyson first. He exposed Tyson's inabilityto be 100% effective without Rooney...and like all athletes, proper training both Mentally and Physically is key to victory.

Holyfield fought Tyson post-prison. Tyson was shot mentally and hadn't trained properly in a long time. Some would say he was shot mentally after Douglas, but I don't think so; more like, "not all there."

However, it is funny you speak of this topic: Calzaghe was exposed as well in a way: he waited, waited, waited, until the best fighters that could expose him were old.

Or as a great quote I once read goes:

"Show me a fighter whose undefeated and I'll show you a fighter who hasn't fought anybody." --Whitey Bimstein, legendary boxing trainer.

                  Thank you.

There wouldn't have been domination from either side.

It just gets ridiculous hearing "Roy was unbeatable in his prime" "Roy in his prime would never lose to....", "Roy was a God in his prime".

As if Roy Jones was the only fighter to have a great and brilliant prime.

Calzaghes work-rate and ability to absorb shots would be hell for Roy. Jones was great at his peak but you could see Toney tried to box him the way you beat Roy is to make him work and tax his body. Im not saying Calzaghe would have won but it would be a very close tough fight. All this Roy KO 4rds is utter rubbish.

I didn't see him look old and washed up against Trinidad... That was how long ago? 10 months ago? lol

So he went from a still competitive fighter to a washed up bum in 10 months. I don't think so...

I don't see any difference in the outcome if it were 10 or or 15 years ago.

Calzaghe owns Jones at any age. His style just plain overwhelms Jones and Jones is not a good technical fighter.

Get over it, quit crying, man up, and admit your boy got soundly beat by the better fighter, and the outcome would of been the same regardless if it was 5 or 10 years ago.
i thought RJJ looked old against tito... and titos washed up. he is a "still competitive fighter".. doesnt mean hes still great.
