Prime Roy was too fast, too agressive and too strong. A phenom.

Watch some fights, order the Ring, and maybe read a book or two. Learn about the sport before making threads like this.
    A little harsh.

Calzaghe going down briefly for a few seconds again does not mean he has a weak chin or would be easily or likely, to be knocked out by Roy or Hops.

It's not like in prime they were loads more powerful. They were hard ish shots amongst others, none of them troubled him or came near troubling let alone a KO.

Surely with all your apparent knowledge you'd know this, before patronising someone like that about being ******?

roy jones was a blown up junior middle. calzaghes 2 biggest wins were over old blown up fighters. what a fraud.

          [typical Roy]
bu,bu, but, that was Joes fault. He was the biggest name in boxing at the time and he could have made any fight he wanted. Roy Jones was just a dog looking for a bone in the boxing landscape.[/stan]

Jones at 39 is just not the same fighter he was in his prime.
Laying back and countering? One shot at a time? That is not Roy Jones.
Look at the gif on fight report and tell me honestly and truthfully that Roy would not follow that uppercut with a left hook, his trademark punch, in his prime?

            This thread is a joke.

Please. He was hurt and in worse shape that he had been in his career. Roy threw faster punches, stronger punches and more punches in his prime.
Do the names Virgil Hill or Montell Griffen ring a bell? They should.

I have about 30 Jones fights in my library, I can lend you some to catch up if you like.

Neither were the guys that beat him.
Why does it matter if he was beaten by guys past their prime?

Jones in his prime was so ridiculously dependent on athleticism that he fell WAY off after his prime, but that doesn't make his prime any worse!

Look at NFL players like Randy Moss who will be much worse past his prime than a fundamental receiver like a Cris Carter, it doesn't mean that they weren't comparable during their primes. Some guys just drop off a lot and that's Roy Jones.

Old Joe > Old Roy does not mean Prime Joe > Prime Roy, or Tarver or Johnson.
