Correct. Look for this to be ignored.

Are you serious man? Jones has looked like a bump since his first fight with Tarver.... Wow at you using Tito as a example....dude hadn't fought in years and his best weight was like 147....he got thrashed against B-Hop and Winky. Imo Roy probably would have knocked Calzaghe out when he was younger.

Exactly. I am honestly amazed that people watch last nights fight and think Joe would do that to a prime RJJ. Yes Joe put on a very good performance but the way he fought would have got him killed against a younger Roy.

People, lets put this in perspective.

Can we all just agree that the Roy that fought last night was well under 50% of the level he fought at in his prime? Surely we can all just agree on that and let all this **** go now.

That excuse doesn't work for any other fighter, it won't work for Roy Jones.

There are MANY fighters in boxing history who were unbeatable in their primes. They too fought on and lost.[/COLOR][/B]
These losses are greatly affecting the legacy of Roy Jones, and they certainly count in a historical sense. 30 years from now, people will think of Roy has a nice champ who piled on losses after his greatest triumph at heavyweight. I don't think anybody denies this, even if it is sad.

But my point is what does the fact that both Joe and Roy being "past their primes" (though I think Calzaghe is the best he's ever been as a complete fighter) say about how they would fight each other Prime 4 Prime as some people have suggested? Some guys age terribly, which is why Jones should be knocked down a historical peg due to lack of longevity but his Prime abilities should never be questioned.

This is why i hate when fighters fight past their primes, because fans get delusional and say ridiculous things like this. Jones actually showed me that he would beat Calzaghe in his prime. Joe was wide open for that lead right hand and actually open for everything that Roy would throw when he would let his hands go, and he was dropped in the first round. People forget that Tarver and Johnson had beaten Roy 4 years ago and also knocked him out cold, so i don't see anything great about his victory last night (it was a good win though), but lets get back to reality.

Tito was going up in weight and his last fight prior to Jones was against Wright about 3-4 years ago.

That fight was a farce. Jones is just a washed up fighter living off his name. Calzaghe is a joke. His whole career is nothing but hand picked opponents. They true suckers are the ones who paid for that garbage.
