that belt he's got was is a sham

i heard that they called 100 opponents to fight for that "world title" before cano agreed. that **** was short notice and 12 rounds.

my guess would be that he had an easy time making the weight being so young, and that others did not.

all of that being said, morales is one of my favorite fighters
i'm very fond of him. the way he goes about boxing is the most endearing in my eyes. fighter first.

he's a terrific boxer with a very deep skill set. but i honestly believe he'll be most remembered for his fighting temperament
      he's a born fighter.
      fighter first, terrific boxer second.

when he gets clocked he comes back with punches.

if you get two evenly matched and talented fighters with that temperament you have a cant miss fight. and that's what you got every time morales fought a live opponent.

i'm not going to weigh in on morales in historic terms yet.

      after all, he's a contender at 140 now ^^
you never know what he might do. the maidana fight was certainly a resume builder. he weathered the storm against the best puncher in the world at 140 for 8 rounds with his eye shut.

you gotta start his resume off with this, though:

erik morales was the only person to defeat manny pacquiao in his prime (do date, anyway, if you believe manny is still in his prime.)

I give zero credit to that belt and it dosnt enhance his legacy for me but it dont hurt him either. He was willing to fight another big ****ing wild man in Matthyese and still has that El Terrible fighters heart in him

Morales isnt a serious threat to the top guys but god damn it he is a ****in G!

You people need to wait to pass judgement Cano might end up being a quality fighter and totally change the way this fight is perceived.

LOL as if making a good fight of it against a shot and fat featherweight is some achievement, that's a paradox anyway. Morales will never be a good opponent or win for anyone again.

It doesn't change the fact that he was handpicked and should not have been fighting for a paper title.

That won't change the fact that he isn't a capable or worthy challenger for a world title at this moment. It's a meaningless win created to GIVE a paper title to a Jose Sulaiman hand picked champion based on his nationality and popularity. The word that comes to mind when thinking of the WBC is shameful.
