This...dont know how in the hell the judges gave it to David Diaz. As for this belt, it would have been great if he earned it by beating Lucas, that wouldve made Erik more legendary.

who says the guy who fought saturday beats lucas mathysse?
he was getting pasted by a class of guy who couldn't hold his jock in his prime.
mathysse would make cano look like a cabbie, to be completely fair.
morales won a green leather belt on saturday. nothing more.
they reportedly called and asked 100 fighters to fight morales for the "world title" before cano was contacted and agreed. he was probably the only guy able to make the weight because he's so young.
talk about earning your title shot.
actually, with the sanctioning fees you have to pay...
he bought it.
lucas mathysse would be a nightmare for last saturday erik morales
hell, hank luny would be a nightmare for last saturday erik morales.
Great fighter but he picked up a paper belt against a nobody the other night, I guess he deserves some credit for becoming a contender at 140 (given his condition).

i agree 100%.
he does deserve credit for even being out there
he's an old man out there in boxing years
with a boatload of miles.
he was 200 lbs not more than a couple of years ago as well.

BEST FIGHTS
1. W 12 Manny Paquaio
Pacquaio had obliterated Barrera while Morales had always had so much trouble with the mexican. Pacquaio looked far fresher than Morales and with his tendency for getting hit and having a FIGHT Morales looked made for the Filipino. Morales handled Manny from the start. The gloves had nothing to do with it, Morales was just plain better. El Terrible held up under Pacquaio's assaults and landed with counter rights all night cutting Manny's eye.
2. L 12 Marco Antonio Barrera (3rd fight)
Better than the one he "won" for Morales. He came on strong down the stretch rocking Barrera with rights and hooks in the 7th and 8th before getting hurt himself in the 9th. Morales owned the championship rounds and beat an exhausted Barrera to the punch repeatedly.
3. W 12 Marco Antonio Barrera
Not a win he deserved but his performance was Great and so was the fight. It was 12 brutal rounds of back and fourth action. Non stop punching and world class skills, a rare mix. True Classic
4. Paulie Ayala
Ayala looked at the peak of his powers coming up 4lbs to face El Terrible. Morales looked headed in the other direction after a loss to Barrera a scare against Injin Chi and a so so performance against Gutsy Espadas. Morales tortured Ayala from the opening and showed a better defence, movement and crisp combinations. Ayala was lucky to see the end as Morales slammed home big lead uppercuts from the midway point. Masterpiece
5. L 12 Marcos Maidana
A close points loss against one of the strongest, biggest punching hard cases in the game after a long tough career and a few easy touches back from retirement. People were genuinely worried Morales' warrior spirit would get him seriously hurt against the Argentine. Erik turned back the clock and at times gave the younger man a boxing lesson, even hurting Maidana on occasion. All the more impressive when u consider Morales' eye was badly damaged from round one on.
6. Daniel Zaragoza
7. Marco Antonio Barrera (2nd fight)
8. Wayne McCulloch
9. Junior Jones
10. Jesus Chavez
