NFL 2023: Ranking every team's QB situation at this early stage of the offseason

    Solid starter -

    Lamar Jackson

    QB WAR rank: 19 | QB DVOA rank: 16 | EPA/play rank: 13

"So here’s the thing: Lamar Jackson is a franchise player. He’s a former MVP and arguably the most dynamic quarterback in the NFL. But injuries have prematurely ended his past two seasons, he doesn’t have a great cast of skill position players around him and his advanced metrics rank among the middle of the pack. There is a also a chance he is playing for another team in 2023. But at this moment, he’s a Raven, and his stability keeps Baltimore afloat — for now."

The bold is an utter lie.
How can he be the most dynamic AND middle of the pack (ranked 13th) ?!?!?
I can't wait to see how he does when he turns into a pocket passer

Not sure if this article is a joke but they have Lamar ranked higher than Rodgers, Russ, (who's NEVER won an MVP, btw) Tannehill and Kyler

I'd rank Lamar above Heineke, Fields, Darnold, Mariota, Mills, Dalton and Ryan (now that they're shot), and Wilson on the NYJ.
I mean... Go back to any QB rankings you want at the beginning of the season and you will see Jackson ranked ahead of all of these except for Rodgers. Also, did you watch Russ play this year at all? Just asking.

Jackson is dynamic in the sense that he creates big plays, whether it's by running or by passing.

My QB rankings would be... (When healthy and excluding Brady)

    Mahomes Burrow
    Allen
    Hurts
    Herbert
    Stafford
    Jackson
    Dak
    Rodgers
    Murray

With Watson making his way back eventually. Rodgers is on his way out, his arm isn't what it used to be.

Derek Carr is a robot. He can and will make the throws you ask him to make. But if the coach isn't winning the game for him, he can't do it. The book is out on him, and defensive coaches know it too. If you switch coverages on him he will freeze and turn the ball over at too high of a rate. There is nothing about Carr that puts pressure on your defense. You can play base and still win as soon as the windows get too tight. He has a little more arm talent then Kirk Cousins and is a little more athletic but doesn't read coverages as well so the results aren't as good. Ultimately Cousins was let go by the Redskins for similar reasons. Carr is a little above average. A good year can have him in the pro bowl, but it can get bad for him as well. You can win with that guy but everything else has to be perfect around him.
Carr wanted to be a ''lifer''
A guy who started and retired wearing no other uni.

Most athletes in team sports wish this.
He holds damn near every Raider passing record.
He lasted as long as he did for a reason.
Prior to Josh, Carr was never on the cusp of being benched.
He was given a 3 year/120 mil extension, that's how little they thought of him.
If put in the same situation as Lamar, weak AF schedule, Carr will have better stats.
He certainly is more reliable in the fact he will not break down.

I really am eager to see Lamar prove one of us right.

I'm just going to focus on your QB rankings...

        What exactly has Lamar done....
        I'll get you started....
        ''Won an MVP''
        What else ?

Now compare what you have typed about Lamar's ranking with those on your list.

What any athlete can say regarding their abilities

          26 and already damaged

          Edit -

          The ''just because'' clause

            Erik pulling out the slogans...

''Comfort is the enemy of progress.''

            He's a little snippy.

            He's right.
We can all have a Q/A session with him after the season.

I mean, when Lamar is healthy he has a huge impact on the game and is a headache for defenses to deal with.

              There’s no question about that.

                He's only 26.
                How soon before he's another RG3 ?

Like I've stated multiple times, 3 of the past 4 years, Balt had some of the weakest schedules.
I don't blame him for doing well when the schedule was soft, that's expected.
Since his MVP season, he hasn't shown to be a $50 mil per year threat.
What kind of threat only wins 1 postseason game ?
Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Big Ben, Eli M, Ryan Tannehill, J Goff and many others have done more.
Without having to run all over the place.

                Vick was a headache
                RG3 was a headache
                Randall C was a headache
Justin Fields is supposed to be a headache in the making

It's about time the headache translate into a title.

Carr lasted this long because he is a little above average and that means a lot in the NFL as a QB.

Cousins get 30 mill fully guaranteed per year. And he is in nobody's top ten.

I think the problem is that you think 30 mill is a lot of money for an NFL QB. Its a lot of money to me and you but for an NFL QB that's not elite money.

Since Lamar got in the league in 2018, Carr is top 5 in most fumbles and most INTs. It's hard to win that way.

You have to decide if you value winning games or not. You are flip flopping all over the place so it's hard to understand where you are coming from.

Since you have Carr over Lamar it stands to reason that winning games means nothing to you. On the other hand I can see that you value passing yards.

So when you ask me what Lamar has done, what type of accomplishments do you actually value?

You are also welcome to share your own top ten list.

                      I've been very consistant
They and their teams both do well when they are dealing with a soft schedule.

I will type it again and maybe you will address it sometime -

THEY AND THEIR TEAMS DO WELL WHEN THEIR SCHEDULE IS SOFT.

Lamar has only dealt with one season where the schedule was not in his favor and he and his team failed.

Forget what I consider an achievement.
List why it is you feel worthy of Lamar getting a $50 mil a year, guaranteed, contract.
Do not mention what OTHER QBs are making.
Play GM and tell the owner why you feel Lamar should get what he wants.
Not once have I said Carr is worth that much.
