The problem with a statement like "most of the the time he shoots it seems to go in" is that it simply isn't true. His shot to goal percentage is about 12%.

He isn't a complete player, nothing like it. All you've done is listed different goalscoring attributes. How many goals did he set up in the league last year? 3? People say the same thing about C.Ronaldo and it's bollocks. To be a 'complete player' you have to also be a great creator for others, which Bale is not. He has no guile, no vision.

The point people were making was that it isn't about him 'looking impressive', it's when it gets to a point where the strikers suffer where he becomes a problem.

In the season before last when he was playing on the left wing he set up a lot more than he did this season just gone, you can't base it off one season. Plus, just because he doesn't have the assist stats doesn't mean he doesn't create chances, it still requires the other players to put the ball in the net, something which Spurs find hard to do with their current strikers.
Adebayor was awful last season, Defoe blows hot and cold and when Crouch/Pavlyuchenko were there they were never prolific players for Spurs. I'm sure with better strikers he would have more assists to his name because i've seen him serve up chances on a plate to other Spurs players and they have floundered them on many occasions.

I know the point people are trying to make but you've got to take into account who else plays for Spurs. There is a reason why he feels he has to do it all himself because half the time Spurs are struggling to score. I lost count of the amount of times he bailed (no pun intended!) out Spurs last season because the rest of the team was under-performing.

If you tell Bale to stop shooting and instead pass to Adebayor or Defoe then Spurs will never get anywhere.

Just because they assist less than they used to doesn't mean they don't have the talent to assist others anymore, they have found new and more effective roles in their respective teams. He's a direct player, hit and run. He doesn't have the skill to dribble around players like Ronaldo or Messi.

I'll admit he's a pretty good player, not better than Di Maria, but on par with Callejon. Which isn't a bad thing, obviously Callejon gets more pussy than monkey boy but that's a different subject.
