I'm just not big on Messi. It's more Barca though, yes he's scored 86 goals but 80 of them were exactly the same.

There's no spontaneity at Barcelona and everything is part of a pattern - it's just functional. Occasionally, he'll go on a worldy run but ordinarily it is football by numbers.

I will never go out of my way to watch Barcelona/Messi. All the games are the same. Everyone of them. Groundhog day. Zzzzz.

The point I'm making is that Messi isn't just a fox in the box. His all round contribution to a game is what makes scoring 86 (and counting) in a year a more impressive achievement than when Muller did it.

Also the fact that 90% of his goals couldn't have been put away by my gran.
