It has been posted on this forum repeatedly, a Great VIDEO GAME is how you grab the attention of that important 18-34 Demographic! Instead that Demographic would rather watch UFC and the WWE instead of boxing. Ironically enough UFC and the WWE have fairly popular video games that reaches that demograph
Gone are the days in which casuals tune in by word of mouth or because they seen or heard a commercial about a fight between people they don't know
Reality Show would help too as crazy as that might sound. Real Boxer Wives of What Ever or something on VH1 which sadly draws a lot of ratings. Put a few fighters on it with their Girlfriends. hell Mayweather did Dancing With The Stars and that helped his career BIG TIME!

There's about 8 different big reasons boxing isn't where it should be in the hearts & minds of the sporting world & in mainstream culture, even if its a lower then previous position.
Promoters no longer understanding how to promote is a big part of that & yea a lot of that is largely white promoters having no idea or concept in how to appeal to anyone except Mexicans who are a completely willing, captured & old skool audience you just present boxing to like they did in the 50's, 60's up to the 80's, 90's til now.
They don't even know how to appeal to potential white fans anymore let alone potential black fans. Damn near every non-Mexican/Hispanic person I know can talk about back up guys on NFL or NBA teams, but if you ask them their favorite active boxers they'll say Tyson or Holyfield or someone else who ain't fought in years usually.

Charlos are a growing brand I heard Damien Lillard mention them as his favorite fighters they really just bursted on the scene recently it’s gonna take a couple years to build them. They will get more promo in time with bigger fights they have the personality to sell.

Who gives a fucc about anything in this thread.. Most of the people who watch boxing don't care. The people who watch boxing in America are mostly Mexicans, and gamblers. The rest are outliers.

I'm not saying nobody wants to watch boxing...it just isn't going to be mainstream. Boxing lost the majority of casual combat sport fans to ufc. I didn't say mma was real fighting...I said it's closer to what the average combat sports fan would consider a real fight.
People want to see sports and legitimate competition under a ruleset that provides good contests and has a history behind it. That's why soccer is the most popular sport.
Boxing just has a much better ruleset and more history than MMA and it will always be a more popular and superior sport. UFC isn't really a sport anyway, it's more like pro wrestling. It has no legitimate competitive format and there are no sanctioning bodies governing it. No real sports fan takes it seriously. Boxing is not competing with the UFC, the UFC is competing with WWE and has a similar fanbase. Those casual fans who follow the UFC would never follow boxing.
Also, the UFC is only popular in two countries on the planet.

Americans are no longer dominating boxing, that's why the American audience doesn't follow it anymore. Americans only follow sports if they have their American athletes competing in it. That's why they prefer NFL to soccer and NASCAR to F1.
The reason why black Americans aren't into boxing that much anymore is because there are hardly any elite black American fighters in boxing right now. If you look at the P4P best boxers who is there? Crawford and Spence and that's pretty much it. Maybe Thurman too. And they're only in the top 20 P4P because it's a transitioning era, neither of them has done much yet. The rest of the black American boxers are either unproven or retired.
Compare that to the 90s and 00s when you had Tyson, RJJ, Toney, Hopkins, Whitaker, Bowe, Holyfield, McClellan, Floyd, Judah, Mosley and tons of other black American boxers.
Right now you don't have a single American in the cruiserweight tournament, all the big heavyweight fights of the recent era were between Europeans...
Not only that but also the American amateur boxing scene doesn't have anything to offer anymore either, Ward was the last American male Olympic gold medalist and that was more than a decade ago.
The promoters can hype the black Americans all they want but these days with the internet everyone with a brain is going to do a quick search and find out that Wilder hasn't fought anybody with a pulse or that the likes of Berto and Jennings have failed at the big stage. Who exactly are they going to promote? There just aren't many black Americans around in boxing right now. It has become a much more global sport.Last edited by RedZmaja; 10-26-2017, 06:43 AM.

Another thing i wanted to add is the spending habits of the urban community. This is a community that buys $500 belts & shoes. As much as it hurts me to say this, we are always looking for new & creative ways to WASTE money. There is a lot of disposable income in the urban community.
