For long fights you need economy of movement, if McGregor doesn't shock Floyd Mayweather early he's not going to be leaping leprechaun in and out Jack in a box for long, that's really his only forte over a boxer and maybe if he can try and tie Floyd up and wrestle him a bit

TBH if this approached worked, I'd expect it to have worked against Paulie.

If it's something Conor's used in MMA, it shouldn't come as any surprise. If it's brand new, it's risky tactics.

Either way, doing crazy **** like this will fatigue him no end. I also think the ref will prevent him roughing Mayweather up too much, so all it means is farther for his punches to travel and more time for Floyd to counter him.

If Floyd can defend against punches in the pocket, then he can defend outside the pocket.
      Agreed.
He's obviously never watched terry Norris fight either, I think he was pretty much on his toes, in and out, the entire fight against Simon brown.

In Conor world though an out of shape Paulie lasts 12 times longer than mayweather.

Look for an exhausted Conor to be stopped by round 7

Conor will be swinging and clubbing felon Felon Floyd from the opening bell. Tired and gasping for breath an exhausted Conor will not be able to go on after round 7. Conor has yet to be tested by a true champion. Nate Diaz is a bottom of the bowl opponent who was picked because nate was average. Floyd ain't Nate.

You play those sports. You don't play Boxing.

This isn't a baseball player taking on Justin Speith in match play golf based off the fact he can swing a club, the similarities and skills needed in stand-up MMA and boxing are much, much more closely aligned. People are also talking like McGregor is going to go in there and become some super-orthodox upright boxer trying to outscore Mayweather jab for jab. I think this is going to be unlike anything we have seen in every way, and McGregor is crazy and confident enough to actually come at this in a completely unorthodox but effective manner. I'm a huge fan of Mayweather's ability and think he is a genius, but I also look at how Maidana, DLH and Cotto approached him and see ways McGregor could at the very least make it interesting and find ways to land. McGregor also has a 5cm reach advantage - FYI, Cotto has a 13cm disadvantage, Maidana an 8cm disadvantage and DLH only a 2cm advantage. McGregor is also a southpaw, Judah gave Mayweather all sorts of problems early on and has the same reach as him.

I'm not saying McGregor will win, but I do think he has more than enough to make it interesting for 4-5 rounds and find people's reaction to this fight ignorant and misinformed.

Conor is no way NEAR as good as those guys.
The people you name all whip him with ease.

Judah is light-years faster than Conor.

The only thing interesting about this farce will be how high Conor's head will bounce off the canvas.

Yep, for confidence he can't be matched. His rematch with Diaz should have had a more hesitant Conor, but he fought like he'd never lost to the guy.

That jab to the solar plexus and right hand over the top will be in full display.

I don't know bro...To me this is going to be Trinidad - Mayorga all over again in terms of early entertainment, and if Connor makes it out of the 5th round, it turns into a Gatti-esque beatdown. When it's just the two of them in that ring, it's still just boxing. All the aggression, posturing, and bluster Connor brings will be gone in short order giving way to Floyd's precise punches and extreme understanding of the sport of boxing. I'd like to see a competitive match, but I surely don't expect it.

For me I feel the reach is a really big factor that a lot of people aren't discussing...

Mayweather's gauge of distance and ability to close it with that lead right hook has been devastating and beautiful to watch over his career, once he has you timed as well it completely bamboozles opponents - they don't even see it coming.

McGregor having the considerably longer reach and being a southpaw will make that more difficult though. McGregor being a southpaw also opens Floyds philly shell defence up too, together with the reach and timing of his, I think that presents opportunities to land clubbing shots - exactly what McGregor has done damage with in UFC.

I just think the fight itself is and will be much more intriguing and matched than people realise... And even if it does turn into a Gatti-style masterclass from Mayweather then just enjoy, cause that was wonderful to watch and something you don't see too often.
