It isn't just this, it's in his own sport too.

When someone said to him Nate Diaz gave him problems he completely denied it. Claimed he didn't give him any problems at all and he honestly believes it. It's that bad. Worse than Khan.

Conor is all about getting money. Period. He's talking slick and reckless but he knows he's just talking to talk. When it was Eddie Alvarez poking at Conor about him being a man who was on food stamps you got the look of supreme shame and embarrassment from McGregor, the same look he had during the press conference where Floyd had on that tiger print shirt. He just looked embarrassed and outright shamed.

He knows that he has nothing but tough fights in MMA. Tough fights that he can't be bothered to take. Yet its interesting because he'd have immensely tough fights in Boxing.

Cotto, Shane, Loma, Terence, GGG, Saul all wash him and would break him down more than Khabib, Ferguson or Woodley ever could.

I love coming into these threads to see all of the gullible people taking what either of these two fools says to sell the fight. Guess what guys...IT'S CALLED PROMOTING THE FIGHT.

I know this is just promotion BS, but he needs to get ready to eat a ronda rousey sized piece of humble pie.

This isn't a baseball player taking on Justin Speith in match play golf based off the fact he can swing a club, the similarities and skills needed in stand-up MMA and boxing are much, much more closely aligned. People are also talking like McGregor is going to go in there and become some super-orthodox upright boxer trying to outscore Mayweather jab for jab. I think this is going to be unlike anything we have seen in every way, and McGregor is crazy and confident enough to actually come at this in a completely unorthodox but effective manner. I'm a huge fan of Mayweather's ability and think he is a genius, but I also look at how Maidana, DLH and Cotto approached him and see ways McGregor could at the very least make it interesting and find ways to land. McGregor also has a 5cm reach advantage - FYI, Cotto has a 13cm disadvantage, Maidana an 8cm disadvantage and DLH only a 2cm advantage. McGregor is also a southpaw, Judah gave Mayweather all sorts of problems early on and has the same reach as him.

I'm not saying McGregor will win, but I do think he has more than enough to make it interesting for 4-5 rounds and find people's reaction to this fight ignorant and misinformed.
I do dismiss McGregor's chances, but I agree with your post.

Movement in boxing is fairly binary in that there is an established right way and a wrong way. Pretty much all the greats have boxed the 'right way', with success coming from them being better at it than the rest - but not doing anything dramatically different. Even Lomachenko is still doing it the 'right way', its just he's doing it way sweeter than anyone else at the moment. Ditto Rigo. Ward isn't exactly 'sweet', but its all standard stuff done at a different level than the guys in front of him.

There have been some exceptions in the past where they did some things 'wrong'. Jorge Paez comes to mind (his prior job being a circus clown), also Naseem Hamed, and sure there were others. Paez and Hamed threw punches from off-balance, unusual angles. Hamed paid the price by falling over a lot, but he threw stuff he shouldn't have been, and very effectively.

McGregor will indeed move in ways Mayweather has never seen, which may indeed see him surprised by the odd punch or two that he wouldn't normally expect to be thrown by a trad. boxer.

A lot of McGregor's MMA success also comes from studying the opponents movement patterns, and training for it. He's a smart fighter.

But equally sure Mayweather will keep his distance to start with and adjust, spotting situations for 'free shots', which he will take with increasing frequency as the rounds wear on.

Yep. And you can add Corley to Maidana, DLH, Cotto. And Mosley for a little bit there. Floydie will likely win, but it won't be from coming forward like he's been claiming he'll do lately. It will be from his same boring track meet/excessive grabbing and holding like he's done for countless fights. And you can bet he'll be juiced to the gills, and NSAC will enjoy their big paycheck to look the other way. But yeah, in the meantime, no matter what happens, McGregor WILL make some serious noise in this fight.
