GBP is looking not only like pussies, they are also looking more & more like idiots. Canelo & Golovkin are both MW champions. The fight is for the unified MW championship. Ward was a SMW champion. Golden Boy should stop talking now. Either make the fight @ the MW limit of 160lbs or vacate & take your bitch asses home.

GGG is going to get the belt.. But he won't get the payday nor the name he needs!! He will get awarded a vacated WBC title & keep fighting those guys for 1.5 mil at 160... Or he can shed a couple pounds for a CW WBC title fight with Canelo, make 9-10 Mil and win the title ! Sheesh, it's only 3 pounds!!

The same reason he would shed 5 or 6 pounds for Floyd (money) should be the reason he should shed 4 pounds vs Canelo (money)! Floyd fight he makes 9-10 mil... w/ Canelo he makes 9-10 mil!!

It's apples and oranges you know as well as everyone else that Ward's offer was **** and Ward was at least as much to blame for the fight not happening as GGG. Ward refused to give an inch. GGG refused to give and inch ... thus fight didn't happen. Neither of them made any great effort to make it happen. But as it was the only time GGG wasn't completely in the right and not being 100% ducked it's all you guys can talk about.

It's a completely different scenario here ... now if GGG was walking around with a 168 belt that was rightfully wards and refusing to fight him then you could say something. But anyway I get it ... GGG is always in the wrong and if he isn't in the wrong (this canelo situation) just talk about something else (Ward) so you can make still make an argument for him being in the wrong.

Please dude, you sound like Baby T not Daddy T. The reality is whenever someone brings up when GGG was wrong, his fans throw a hissy fit and deflect to something else. That or they act like posters they believe are black, Mexican and Puerto rican are the only ones criticizing him.

You guys only want to talk about GGG being avoided but never talk about when he avoids. You want to talk about the problems with high paydays for bums, but leave GGG out. You want to talk about how Canelo isn't being fair to him as if he is the only fighter this has ever happened to.

No one credible blames GGG for not getting the big MW fights he wants when that is the discussion topic. When the topic shifts to choices he's made, well yeah, he is going to get some criticism.

Im certainly not defending K2's pr effort, as it has been a disaster. I will say one thing though, saying your fighter can beat anyone from 154-168 is one thing, but it doesnt automatically mean that EVERY single fight between 154-168 is suddenly makeable. Not even taking into account that Ward is notoriously difficult to deal with.

He is heavily marketed by HBO, is a great TV fighter, but he can only sell out when arena/stadium seats are priced like you would at small casino's and hotel ballrooms. People like you that are in the business are going to make him offers based on that reality.

You yourself, as a former promoter, know exactly what I am talking about. GGG sells out when max seats are $400 and cheap seats are $10-30. As the promoter, you know you will have to cover losses because the gate won't make enough to cover purses.

In order to get to the point where he is a true star and you can charge $1,000-1,500 at ringside he may have to take lowball and/or one sided offers and win those fights just like other guys.

i have 1 question. other than speaking through the press, was GGG v. Ward ever even a podsibility? when was the last time Ward even fought at 168? 3 yrs ago? lol. ok, that was more than 1, but u get my point

outside of Floyd and Pac, and maybe Klitschko in Germany, no fighter can generate those kinds of ticket prices by themselves unless paired with a top draw (cotto-canelo, canelo-khan, etc). If I remember correctly, the top ticket for Ward-Barerra was $300

Golovkin didn't/doesn't hold a super middleweight title though.

That entire argument is just misdirection.

Canelo can vacate his middleweight belt, just walk away from the middleweight division and wash his hands of it. If he does so that is fine, I'll watch him dominate 154 and I'll quit busting his chops about not fighting middleweights. I highly doubt he'll lose many (if any) fans too Mexican or otherwise.

In the meantime, he is playing the part of a middleweight champion, capable of fighting and coming in healthy at 160 pounds, who will only fight welterweights.

Sorry, just a quick correction. I was interested in the article but the headline is misleading. Right down the bottom is says 'I don't recall the last time I heard a promotor offer to put his guy in 154,160 or 168 as Loeffler did.' His job description says it all - promotor. Their job is to talk **** and get everyone talking about their guy and build up (sometimes average) fights. I feel this one sentence is going to be around for years to come though haha.

You could be right. Won't be the first time a promoter has grabbed a megaphone and pushed their fighter. "Maybe, yes," Golovkin said... when asked about fighting Ward, 5 years ago. Yet still he stays at MW, keeps saying 'all the belts', won't budge above MW or below it. And he's 34 and not getting any younger. Who knows how this impasse with Canelo will end up.
