Please tell me why any network is going to pay a dime for PBC when it looks like second rate boxing and is losing so much money each time out? The 2 biggest fights PBC could make IT COULD NOT EVEN AFFORD TO AIR UNDER THE PBC BRAND! Jacobs vs Quillin first announced as a PBC fight get's pushed to Showtime because Haymon knows the fight will lose too much money on PBC if they pay for it. Thurman vs Porter first announced to air on PBC on NBC what back in Nov/Dec keeps getting moved and pushed back and finally moved to a Showtime on CBS instead of a PBC fight.

The overall star power you saw in the first half of last year's PBC is now gone. Why because the ratings stink which means you can't charge much for advertisement it's all based on the ratings you pull. The big names under Haymon can't fight on PBC because it's too much money and PBC knows the ratings are in the toilet so they are trying to limit their loses and shipping these expensive fights to Showtime. And you think this will get PBC a network deal? Newsflash the networks only agreed to PBC because there was no risk and it's all time buy's with PBC paying everything on their own. The networks are paid up front whether the fights flop or not. But when the PBC money runs or the investors pull the cord because the the debt is too huge to come back from no network is going to pay for PBC.

do you know why they got that manny viewers? they were free! championship level boxing has typically been on premium cable or PPV.

canelo - kirkland cost $15-$20 a month to watch . fox is free.

you can stick your head in the sand and ignore everything but the numbers if it really makes you feel better. it's an odd look. ostritches are much, much dumber than people, who recognize that sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the truth doesn't make it go away or detract from its impact.


canelo - kirkland damn near beat danny in ratings when danny was on FREE TV and in primetime. those are horrible numbers for fox, which is the standard by which the ratings should be judged.

Your not even going to Factor in that Canelo / Kirkland piggybacked off the biggest PPV of all time to get that #.


Why am I not suprised that Big Dunny is doing his best to discredit the show and #s. But wait when Kov/Pascal does 1.1 million he'll be hyping it up that KOv is the new international face of boxing.

PBC in 1 year time has ruined Showtime and blown hundreds of millions of his investors money. What ads are they getting? Ads are based purely on ratings you pull which have been bad. If their ads were good they would not be shipping fights like Thurman vs Porter and Jacobs vs Quillin to Showtime. And where are we? Every network that has aired PBC has seen a decline the more fights they air. And Fox just debuted last in every category against it's competitors. And where are the stars PBC is building? And why are the networks going to pay for a product that loses millions each event they put on? The goal for PBC is to prove the business model works and that they can draw ratings. Neither has happened. Unless you think paying guys like Lara who have no fanbase 1mil to fight tomato cans under a rainy tent surrounded by 100 people watching and get's beat out in the ratings by WNBA on ESPN2 is a sustainable and profitable for networks to pay for. PBC is on these networks because they pay them... at least until the money runs out. Which the way they are burning money will not last long.

also, if you believe the sources, the replay did only around half of what the main event did. the viewership peaked during the main event, and i can provide links if you don't believe me.

If you compare it to what NBC pulled for the PBC debut last year which got a 3.4 rating it's down by more then 1/3. Also if you compare this what UFC debuted on FOX at 5.7 it's terrible hell the preliminary fights UFC does on Fox typically get better ratings then this. And all those UFC fights cost a fraction of the price because the fighter purses are so cheap and UFC doesn't have to pay FOX a time share buy worth millions.

And if Canelo fight was because of the replay of the Mayweather fight then why did Showtime pull horrible rating replaying their fight and why did Canelo do better on HBO then the replay did? And HBO compared to premium cable ratings 1mil or more would be great like someone else mentioned. Problem is this fight was on FOX not premium cable and finished DEAD LAST with Fox competitors. And down 33% from what PBC debuted on NBC. And less then FS1 did just a week ago with UFC, you know FS1 the smaller sister station of FOX. Keep trying to compare the ratings to HBO and lying to yourself these ratings aren't good.

the hbo replay of mayweather -pacquiao did approximately half of what the main event, kirkland - canelo, did in ratings.

I know that people pay for HBO but I think some of that # for Canelo/Kirkland is because May/Pac replay

This is the core of the matter. PBC's ratings have to grow if they are to stop losing money. I don't see how this is controversial.

We know that they are paying premium network level purses for free cable fights. We know they're losing money because of the investment fund revelations. So without ratings growth that situation is not going to change.

To be honest, all you ever hear by way of response to this is that Haymon is a genius and who is anyone to question him. Bernie Madoff type stuff.
