It was a good fight, but it shows that the public is not in enough numbers yet to make boxing a permanent fixture on free TV over the long term. I see it like this, if the free boxing does gain some viewers back to the sport, the sport itself will be a little better off when it does go back to cable. I also expect to see an occasional card on free TV. At least one of the networks might keep an opened mind about boxing as a programing alternative.
OK, the Saturday before that FOX did 961K at 8, 640K at 8:30, and 806K at 9 ET.
Those are all reruns too LMAO
None of these are first run shows. They are shows that Fox airs earlier in the week one of the examples you gave is actually a show that is on hiatus. Fox when they have nothing scheduled on Sat night they just re-air old shows. A rerun especially ones of reality shows are so cheap and can't compare to the millions PBC is throwing away. PBC ratings so bad we have to resort to comparing the ratings to reruns? All these shows when they got their first air date kill PBC ratings by the way. Again simply put FOX got killed on Saturday by it's competing networks. Dead last they were in overall ratings and PBC was dead last as the worst performing prime time program on saturday. FOX did less then what UFC preliminary fights do and did less then FS1 the smaller sister station did last sunday not in prime time but from 10pm-1am. And compared to the ratings NBC primetime debuted at for PBC last year this rating is down 33%.
No matter how much we try to polish this off these ratings are not good.

The problem is that the free networks will not pay the purses Haymon is paying. Only the premium networks can do that. Which is why boxing went there in the first place. The only boxing stays on free tv is if the premium networks don't want it.

You bring up some good points but also exaggerate. They are in the same area roughly as the UFC, which also btw gets beat by re-runs etc, they do however have better demo's than PBC which is important. The FS1 number has only been done twice for the UFC and that was on the back of heavy NFL promotion.
The problem with the PBC besides their crazy financing, is that there is no real promoter to build up shows and Haymon is still struggling to make marquee fights that would get better ratings.
2.518M average viewers for the entire show from 8-10 EST. This makes it PBC's third highest rated telecast behind Thurman-Guerrero and Garcia-Peterson. Garcia and Guerrero have been involved in 2 of the 3 highest rated shows.

Can't see how anyone can complain about this number. I think they could've done more if Haymon had done more promotion and had a media event.
Thurman/Porter is on CBS so lets hope they keep the momentum going and then match Garcia with the winner of that fight next and then have the winner fight the winner of Khan/Brook, with Ghost on the undercard because he has shown he will be in an entertaining fight.

Ratings are still not good even on that chart the color coding has PBC in "Below Avg". FOX finished dead last in ratings. In every key demographic PBC either did below avg or just avg. No green anywhere on that chart.

Why are you upset that people watched this fight? Did you watch the fight?

Oh well. Did you enjoy the fights or were you just waiting for the #'s?
