He looked great though, Benn fight aside, and had tonnes of ability

he took some of the best gas we've seen at MW and SMW, and clearly had the power and dimensions. he had every physical tool that you can't teach in boxing; speed, power, dimensions, and a chin.

'Perfect' to me means the stuff you can teach as well.

He looked great in that respect to, but it wasnt proved at the level other fighters listed in here were.

TS is talking about "building a fighter" with "attributes."

we can assume he is talking about talent. if i built a fighter, i'd take a tall, athletic, rangy kid with power and a great chin. preferably i'd like him to be left handed, too.

          Skills and technique are attributes.

TS mentioned Mayweathers 'style' in the second comment.

I'm assuming he means the most complete fighter overall.

Skills and technique are attributes, of course. If we are 'building' a fighter we have to take into account his style and technique too, other wise we are just talking about naturally given attributes.

Pretty taking into account everything apart from accomplishments and competition, because that relies on other factors, not just attributes.

i'm not going to argue over the meani9ng of attribute, but when you're talkin gabot an athlete it's typically a word used to refer to inherent talent, not learned skills. in boxing the basic talents are chin, speed, and punching power. it's a heck of a lot easier to learn to box if you can move fast, hit hard, and take a punch.

TS might not know what talent or attributes are, and how they differ from learned skills, but if you're talking about "building a fighter on paper" that's what's being discussed. it's different from training a fighter.

                  TS confirmed what I said.

                  He's talking most complete overall.

Mcclellan was not tested enough to rank that highly imo.

                    this is a bad list.

duran is a good shout, but whitaker and mayweather are actaully one dimensional fighters.

ray leonard was floyd mayweather with more activity, a better chin, and with the abiliyt o be aggressive and knock people out. floyd can't do what he can do, but he could do what floyd did. he outboxed bigger, better boxers than floyd ever could. he also knocked tommy hearns out, and took his gas! not miguel cotto, not canelo alvarez, tommy hearns.

Leonard was naturally bigger than Floyd so this is an unfair comparison. After all, I think most people are referring to the 130-130 lbs Mayweather. Not the 38 year old with brittle hands fighting much bigger men.

Also, Leonard could not defend like Floyd or counter as well as Floyd. Offensively Leonard was more effective but saying Leonard could do everything Floyd could is rubbish.
