It has nothing do with it. First off, Ward comes to the table like "I even offered 50/50". As if he's got the pull over GGG Mr "I fight on BET". Ridiculous.
Second off, it was in the middle of GGGs prep for his first PPV bout.
I don't keep mentioning scenarios - Where? You're once again taking it to things I haven't even said. You must REALLY hate GGG.
I'll tell you one last time. GGG has fights at 160 that are BIGGER than Ward. Ward has no fights at 168 that are bigger than Kovalev. If GGG fights Ward and loses, he can kiss goodbye to huge fights against Cotto/Canelo.
There's no conspiracy other than people wanting to see Ward in good fights and HBO want to see him get ratings. GGG is pulling in 1.3/1.4 on HBO 3-4 times a year and has made it to PPV level now, despite what his numbers were.
Ward has no contenders at 168 that either isn't signed to Al Haymon or he has already beaten. So it makes sense for him to move up - Like he said he would all those years ago.
I get it. You want to see GGG get beaten. It's OK that you think Ward is the only possible guy that could give him a challenge, but he isn't.
Quillin, Lee, Jacobs, Cotto/Canelo would all be good fights for GGG to unify the division completely.
Ward's highest ranked realistic opportunity at his weight is Arthur Abraham or Callum Smith Yeah time to move on.
If GGG comes through at MW, he might throw Ward a bone. Until then..
Who wants to break it to our highly educated Floyd that Manny Pacquaio isn't Caucasian...
Or that he's heavily benefited his entire life from being black and his career would have ended fairly abruptly if he was white and acts the way he does because they are expected to "know better". That racist rant about Asians would have been the end.
He's black so it was just "haha, what a funny guy". No matter how asinine his behavior "haha, he just playin".
So true, if any other race would act like that they would be condemned. It isn't cute no matter your color, but some can get away with it even when it hurts others.
... Tbh, I didn't contemplate the remotest hope to watch Ward fighting Kovalev in 2016, as Ward had that comeback fight with Paul Smith and he was calling the likes of Murdock or Brand next...
Fine. You may not have thought about that potential fight.
But can you honestly sit there and and tell me that if Ward tried to stay at 168 and fight those guys instead of Kovalev, people would not scream that he is ducking the man?
Wow so how long is GGG going to sit around in the wasteland that is 160?
Like I said, I want to see him challenged. Whereas you want him to continue to fight nothing fighters at 160
Ward isn't going to be at 168 any more. Maybe if HBO had allowed him to fight soft opponents like GGG has been doing.
Probably around until the time he is undisputed MW champion. Which is completely fair.
All of those fights I mentioned would be good fights. Not as good as Ward, but still good fights.
HBO did allow Ward to fight bums, so don't even go there. What was the australian guys name that the commission rejected but HBO approved? Don't even remember him and had never heard of him,. He had multiple losses to jjourneymen. So Ward or you can't go there. Same with this Brand guy.
At least GGGs opponents, though there were some bad ones, were previous world champions, contenders or undefeated.
HBO did let him fight a horrible bum TWICE! The commission rejected it because it was so unfair and he had 13 fights or something. Then Alexander Brand.
WHO THE *** IS THAT?
Pretty much proving the point. When have opponents been rejected like that?
HBO have rejected a few potential Ward opponents that would never get rejected for Golovkin. And now the commission suddenly rejects a fight because it's a mismatch?
The guy they rejected was ranked in the top 10 of the WBA at 168. Why is that a "mismatch" but Golovkin can fight guys like Adama and Willie Munroe without a hitch?
