Unfortunately, it's the elephant in the room that no one feels comfortable talking about. It doesn't matter how many Eastern Euro or other fighters HBO imports and pushes from all corners of the globe on their network.

Unless these fighters are good American Heayweight boxers and natural born American citizens; Which so happens to be the mecca of boxing, then the sport shall always remain marginalized globally. The sport won't be going anywhere and anywhere soon.

That's why it is no longer a mainstream sport today among casual fans. The general public have just simply begun to lose interest in the sport, since the glory days of boxing because of the decline of the American fighter; Who just so happens to be the most popular boxers in the world in terms of generating PPV and box office revenue.

It makes much more sense for Ward to fight Golovkin AND Kovalev.

Golovkin could have fought the winner and then Ward.

Don't you like good fights ?

For all of that to work out Ward had to fight Golovkin first.
Yeah it make sense for Ward, not for Golovkin

Yeah I like good fights and Ward vs Kovalev is a helluva fight. So is Canelo/Cotto vs GGG.

One of those fights won't happen if GGG vs Ward happens first. Simple as.

        Leftovers.. smh

Froch is an established warrior who filled out 80k in his last fight and made more in one night than Ward has made today, even if he had 3 careers.

        Of course they want Froch!

        Some people..

Uh no cos we don't even know if Cotto or Canelo will fight Golovkin and Ward vs Kovalev isn't till late next year.

Ward has already stated that once he moves up, he won't move back down because he wants to grow into the weight.

So Ward vs GGG at 168 is off the table now. The Golovkin fans and the powers that be got what they wanted.
I said I assume. So I don't know anything, but I assume that it's the direction it's going and nothing's been signed because nothing's official. Maybe Ward's HBO deal has something about him having to fight Kovalev or something, I don't know. Good if it does, then Ward can stop picking on guys below his weightclass and move up to 175 as he promised he would years ago.

No we don't know, but I can bet you if GGG loses to Ward none of those guys would EVER fight him. EVER. And then that's out of the window.

Lol at the last part. I've always wanted to see GGG vs Ward, but there's an incredible double standard in saying GGG has to fight Ward at 168 and Ward doesn't have to move up.

The simple fact is that there are no interesting fights for Ward at 168, and there's a huge one at 175.

GGG has a huge potential fight at 160 where he is an active champion.

Ward's last fight was 172 lest we forget.

So as long as a black fighter is at the top of the sport, all of fine and dandy. The moment that a light skin fighter might become the face of the sport, its all a racist conspiracy, and the light skin fighter is unproven and undeserving until he does ABC,and fights XYZ.

... well, the 'decline of the American fighter' really is the actual issue... which has to be addressed 'locally', I mean in the U.S.

Who said Ward doesn't have to move up? Boxing fans wanted to see him vs Golovkin at 168lbs before that happened though.

But other forces were against it.

I mean would HBO ever ask Golovkin to sign a contract where he has to fight Ward at the end of it? No but they made Ward sign one like that for Kovalev.

David Blunkett could see what's going on here.

Looks like Floyd has been reading NSB and made the same arguments some posters have been making for months now.

Except for the part that the sport is looking for a Caucasian star, I think a lot of posters agree with the general points he was making.

But you keep ignoring that Ward-GGG was proposed for late 2016. So Golovkin could have fought Cotto or Canelo first anyway.

That's if they fight him. Which they probably won't. They'll likely vacate the title and Golovkin will fight another stumblebum whilst his greatest challenge will have moved up to 175.

                    The hype train keeps rolling.

He could defend the titles he holds at 154 against Triple G right now on a huge 2 mil PPV buy card...
