If you buy into this, you are a moron:
1. Boxing is not really that popular. It is extremely difficult to become a crossover superstar as a boxer, no matter what color you are. Pacquaio and Mayweather both got very lucky in some respects. Boxing is mostly popular among hispanics in this country. Us white and black boxing heads that populate this message board are a very very small group in the grand scheme of things. Mayweather was able to get non-boxing fans to love him (younger, hip-hop community etc) and general sports fans to dislike him enough to buy his PPVS for several years. This is a very rare feat. This is why ESPN Deportes covers boxing but regular ESPN barely mentions it. It is easier and more convenient for a hispanic star to be made than a black or white (European or American) guy. Canelo would obviously be the lead candidate.
2. Besides the knockouts and exciting style, Golovkin gets attention because he actually has a real promoter that busts their ass for him. These PBC guys do not have a real promoter. Andre Ward has an inexperienced promoter and he suffers from his own self-inflicted wounds. Mayweather Promotions has not proven that they are a real promoter either. GGG just did a tour of Texas..He met Jerry Jones, went to the Cowboys game, had a press meet and greet in Dallas and San Antonio. Golovkin goes to Europe once a year to fight, even when HBO wasn't broadcasting it. What the hell is stopping Quillin or Thurman or Ward from doing similiar things???? The answer is that they don't have real and committed promoters or they just want to be paid well and don't want to go through the extra hassle that Golovkin has no problem dealing with.
3. Andre Ward wasn't forced to move up. He probably doesn't make the weight as easy anymore because he is now in his 30s and has spent most of the last 4 years as an inactive fighter. If there is nobody for him to fight at 168, that has nothing to do with some BS racial conspiracy. Top Rank, Golden Boy, Roc Nation and other non-Haymon affiliated promoters are all having a difficult time getting their guys fights because everyone else is unavailable because they are with your adviser, Floyd. Look at the year crawford and Lomachenko had. Look at Sadam Ali only being able to fight once this year. Right now it is hard for non-haymon guys to find acceptable opponents. This is why the word "monopoly" is being brought up and part of the reason for the lawsuits.
