I disagree. When Tyson, Holyfied, Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali all fought in America the whole world took notice. You don't go from being the most recognized human being on the planet just by appealing locally and regionally. Your appeal has to be globally. Casual fans from all around the world watched these charismatic fighters fight each and every time they fought, even though they weren't boxing fans themselves because these fighters were considered icons and appeared larger than life to them. Now the same cannot be said about fighters who have fought regionally and locally and have a broad based appeal among casual fans in the U.S. Those fighters like GGG, Klitschko, Lomachenko and Kovalev are only adored by the hardcore boxing fan.

This is like listening to white supremacists talk about reverse racism. People so used to their privileges that any hint of a threat sends them flying into hysterics.

A fighter from outside of North America is popular. That's it. Amazing how upsetting it is for some people.

Ward fights at 168. GGG is a middleweight champ and fights at 160.

Cotto and Canelo have the middleweight belt on the line and are both superstars. The Winner faces GGG to be the undisputed middleweight champ.

          I love all, especially irish/mexicans
I was also kidding when I said that ginger was Irish, but got the ban anyway... it was the first time realized how 'sensitive' the people on this board really are... I suspect that there was some angry Aztec who reported me...

So he says its okay to make GGG move up in weight that is the right thing to do but asking Ward to move up isn't cool at all? Double standards okay....

Hopefully Floyd sends the winner of Jacobs/Quillin to squash this hype job.

I don't know where we disagree...
... I think you neglect the actual fact that from the '60s till the '90s there were the U.S. TV channels only able to air fights worldwide... I remember watching Ali-Liston II, live in an East European country, back in 1965...

Both may choose not to fight GGG (given he just sold 97-under 150k ppv's) and neither is as good as Ward. He could fight Ward and go back to get the MW titlers, which seems to have been the plan when he was discussing fighting Froch and Chavez.

Wonder if Floyd sees the correlation between KO wins and hype or recognition? When you can't KO anyone, you end up malign ago type hype..... Not much
