This is like listening to white supremacists talk about reverse racism. People so used to their privileges that any hint of a threat sends them flying into hysterics.
A fighter from outside of North America is popular. That's it. Amazing how upsetting it is for some people.

Cotto and Canelo have the middleweight belt on the line and are both superstars. The Winner faces GGG to be the undisputed middleweight champ.

Originally posted by MDPopescu... well, the 'decline of the American fighter' really is the actual issue... which has to be addressed 'locally', I mean in the U.S.Originally posted by champion4ever View PostI disagree. When Tyson, Holyfied, Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali all fought in America the whole world took notice. You don't go from being the most recognized human being on the planet just by appealing locally and regionally. Your appeal has to be globally. Casual fans from all around the world watched these charismatic fighters fight each and every time they fought, even though they weren't boxing fans themselves because these fighters were considered icons and appeared larger than life to them. Now the same cannot be said about fighters who have fought regionally and locally and have a broad based appeal among casual fans in the U.S. Those fighters like GGG, Klitschko, Lomachenko and Kovalev are only adored by the hardcore boxing fan.
... I think you neglect the actual fact that from the '60s till the '90s there were the U.S. TV channels only able to air fights worldwide... I remember watching Ali-Liston II, live in an East European country, back in 1965...
