I don't know about a conspiracy. HBO is riding Crawford hard too. To his credit, Crawford has taken risks like moving up to fight Prescott as a replacement on short notice. And Gamboa is better than anyone GGG has beaten, but he still has the machine behind him.
I think boxing is just desperate for a star. The field is watered down because of politics so resumes are thin. Plus the desperation forces management to babysit and micromanage their investment so you don't see fighters taking risks.
It's a whole different game from the late 90s when Floyd was proving himself.

We sure could. But as I just said, GGG vs Cotto/Canelo is right for NOW. Ward vs Kovalev is right for NOW.
GGG vs Ward is also right for NOW but if they fight either GGG vs Canelo/Cotto or Ward vs Kovalev will be out the window.
So it makes a lot more sense if they do those fights first, which should be better financially for all parties involved anyway. If GGG comes out on top, and Ward does the same.
Of course, GGG vs Ward should happen at 168.
Now, are people scared that if Ward fights Kovalev he'll never get his hands on "little G"? I think so.
This is the same Ward who said he could fight one of the Klitschko brothers. Now, I don't see people reciting that every day here like people do with GGGs 154-168 business.
It makes much more sense for Ward to fight Golovkin AND Kovalev.
Golovkin could have fought the winner and then Ward.
Don't you like good fights ?
For all of that to work out Ward had to fight Golovkin first.

This shows Floyd is racist himself.
This has nothing to do with race.
GGG does most things right, he keeps fighting and winning in impressive fashion.

So GGG needs to move up to fight Ward, but Ward moving up to fight Kovalev is a conspiracy to create a white star?
Floyd logic. The same logic that pointed fingers at Pacquiao whilst he was taking IVs behind closed doors. Cheating hypocrite.

I bet that 3-fight HBO deal for Ward to move up to 175 was a winner

White fighters are not more popular. Under 10% of the world is white, a very small audience. White fighters took over all the heavier divisions and most people outside of Europe basically stopped watching because they felt alienated.
