vegas is going to have this fight close to even. kovalev will be a slight favorite, and deservingly. he's been more active and is a bigger man.

this is the best fight in boxing. get ready to pay $60 for it at he end of 2016. that's been the plan for a while now.
I found an early odds line, UK style. Ward is an extremely marginal favourite (bet 5 to win 4) and Kovalev is even money.

That will change as the smart money lumps in for Kovalev. Ward simply will not be able to keep him off him.

In fact, if Froch would have woken up sooner and started eating more shots to get his own in he could have ground Ward down - as it was he won a few of the later rounds and Ward was tiring.

Kov is not Froch. Froch can box a bit, and ******ly tried to box Ward. Kov simply comes at opponents, and will not have any respect for Ward.

It will play out like that, 100%. Kov will at some point land something big, and then he will finish things off. It won't take him 6 rounds to land that something.

Ward's resume is certified. He doesn't need to prove him self he's not a hype train who's yet to,step up in class !

Pascal/Kovalev worked because of the Canadian gate/ppv along with usual HBO $3mill. Outside of the Pascal fight - neither Ward nor Kovalev have generated a $1mill gate. Ward's best was vs Dawson with $706k. Kovalev just sold 2,000 tickets for Mohammedi, though I think Kovalev/Hopkins did about the same as Ward/Dawson.

Ward's fight vs Dawson was his peak popularity and it only generated 1.3mill tv rating in a prime time slot in September. Previous to that Dawson/Hopkins II, generated 1.6mill tv viewers (after their first fight had 50,000 ppv buys...) If they project 300k buys, that's a $9mill pot, $5mill should be enough for Ward, but who knows?

But here's the real problem - Ward's taking **** fights that won't elevate his popularity in order to sell this fight.

you need to stop watching boxing
at the very least, turn off the UK commentary. you guys are clueless about what actually happens in the ring.

when you have won 10 or 11 rounds you can take a break at the end of the fight. ward had two broken bones in his hand. he is left handed. also ward clearly won the 12th. clearly. he led froch around the ring and made him miss, and landed enough to negate any aggression in the context of scoring a boxing match.

IIRC, the only froch round in that entire fight was the 11th.

Mr Ward, usually you're right, a fighter doesn't owe an explanation for his opponents.. but in this case you do. Bringing an old SMW for a 'tuneup' as LHW is very head scratching.

All you had to say 'well, HBO or Roc dragged their feet on signing the contract with Kovalev, so we only had 3 weeks to legally reach out to a fighter and the pickings were slim." I'd buy that. But yeah, you do owe an explanation :-/

if your opponent makes people demand an explanation then yeah

              you probably owe them one

the athletic commission flat out rejected his last cherry, i guess his strategy is denial and slipping deeper into insanity

haters praying ward don't fight kovalev "please ward, beef with roc nation" "please ward, get injured"

                  Simple

He can't make 168 anymore (last time he was asked about it, he claimed he "made 170 as a test in camp and with a different camp could squeezeout the other 2 lbs" or some nonsense)

But he's Andre Ward and has always looked for prefight advantages over his opponents

If he's going to be forced by his own biology to move up to 175 lbs, why should he fight guys his own size when he can instead pay middleweights and supermiddleweights to move up with him?

I guess he felt the need to explain....

Not only do they openly root against Golovkin fighting a single opponent where he isn't a massive favorite, but now they are all over this thread, down on both knees, praying that Ward-Kovalev doesn't happen.

                      Sad bunch of "men".
I'm a GGG fan and I'd love to see Ward fight Krusher. I don't think it's going to happen though.
