I think it's okay personally.
I'm completely satisfied with an eventual match between Ward vs. Kovalev
and I would prefer for GGG to unify 160 and stay there until he meets Canelo (or maybe Cotto.... but probably Canelo regardless how their fight plays out in Nov.)
If GGG stays focused on middleweight he could break some records and make some history. There are a lot of good fights to be made without him leaving that division. And Ward still hasn't fully left the neighborhood by going to 175. We might still see it, just not in the next couple years.

why is that so wrong? Its the same thing, its just ward is more of a test than froch who is more of a test than chavez.
is it worth getting the vacant belt if its stripped from cotto/canelo?
Would you prefer ggg/lee or ggg/ward?Last edited by bigdunny1; 10-08-2015, 11:29 AM.

if cotto wins you and others think cotto will not fight GGG. If Canelo wins, you think they will fight, but are not 100% sure even though the WBC has a rule in place. Many of you think that either will drop the belt-thus getting GGG a title fight with another lower class fighter-that's if the WBC doesn't change and let Haymon guys sneak in. He will also never get the belts Haymon guys have.
So my premise is exactly true-when GGG doesn't get the fights he wants he takes the easier road to stay undefeated to maximize his earnings if he gets the BIG fight he covets.
It was a good enough strategy for Hopkins, and unifying 160 led him to much bigger and better things.......

During that whole time, not a PEEP from Ward. So NOW that they got one of the champs (Lemieux) signed, and another (Cotto-Canelo winner) mandated to fight him next, here comes Ward rattling his tin cup wanting a 50-50 commitment for a fight that is probably 18 months away (Wards offer was for next fall at the earliest)
My personal belief is that should Cotto beat Canelo, he will NOT fight GGG. That being said, I understand Loeffler waiting to see who actually wins the fight, and what happens afterwards.
And sorry to break it to you, but GGG-Ward is NOT a mega fight. Its definitely a "notable" fight, but a mega-fight? please.........
HBO just named Ward & ggg #s 1 and 2 p4p, but this is not a mega fight?

Hmmm, which is a more equitable situation:
Ward going up 3 (172 to 175) and then down 7 (175 to 168)
GGG going up 8 (160 to 168) then down 11 (168 to 157) for Cotto-Canelo
Ward stans are full of it.......
GGG vs Froch- 168 lbs
GGG vs Chavez Jr- 168 lbs
GGG vs Ward- 164 lbs
Gullible Gennady Groupies are even more full of it.

There is no question that GGG has surpassed Andre Ward as being the more powerful box office attraction. GGG has a style that fans find to be exciting; Ward has a style that even purists let alone the common fan finds to be frustrating. GGG fights frequently. Ward doesn't (for whatever reason). Both fighters are family men who set a positive image for their public in every aspect of life, so neither gets the "bad boy" following. At this point in their careers, GGG is the 'A' side, and Andre Ward isn't. Fifty-fifty split is not a reasonable proposition. My advice to Andre Ward? Fight GGG for whatever percentage will allow the fight to be made, and then do your best to win. If Ward does beat GGG (which I don't believe that he can) then he'll once again be the 'A' side and demand the lion's share. Either that or employ the same strategy with Sergey Kovalev (another fight that IMHO Ward won't win) and see the same results: career resurrection and 'A' side percentage.
