Yes, his face looks so ******. Almost as ****** as poor Lucian Bute face when he got smacked by GGG in the amateurs.

Oh, because it didn't sound like a joke.

GGG gets marketed as a monster and he is clearly HBO's next big thing. he gets huge ratings and HBO doesn't have to use too many resources to get those ratings.

The casual fan puts heavy emphasis on 0 losses. So why would HBO risk the short term earning potential (GGG is 33 already so he has a relatively short shelf life) by putting him in with Ward?

Ward may not be a big draw outside of Oakland and he may not get huge TV ratings. He likely will never be a PPV or crossover star, especially the way he espouses religion.

But the mother*cker is special in the ring. I don't see how GGG beats him. I don't think the HBO guys or Loeffler see how he does either.

That's not true. Dawson hadn't fought at 168 for many years.

In a post-fight interview, Max Kellerman asked Chad Dawson if he would move down to 168 and fight Ward.

In front of the TV audience, with his adrenaline flowing and confidence high after the fight with Hopkins, Dawson wasn't about to say "no".

Later Dawson realized he couldn't easily make 168 and asked for a catch weight against Ward, but Ward (with the backing of HBO) said "no".

Nobody questions Hagler, nor Ward, nor Froch for staying at their body's natural weight all their careers. The jump from middle to super-MW is said to be the toughest in boxing so kudos to the Hopkins and RJJs of this world as what they did is truly a rare occurrence. Cotto too has done very well moving up. But some fighters just never fill out enough to move up easily.
          1. The SMW division wasn't recognized when Hagler was at his peak. When it finally became recognized, there were no big fights at that weight for him to take. So the next division for him to move up would be 175.

          2. Ward gets questioned plenty for not moving up.

          3. Froch is a classic example of a fighter that has accomplished more with less so he gets a pass in that regard. He is held to a lower standard than these other fighters who are p4p top 5 caliber.

Fact of the matter is GGG, Ward and Rigo were supposed to be the ATG fighters to replace Floyd and Pac but all of them are babied, carefully managed and scared of going out of their comfort zone to earn their status.

... well, kid: you don't "catch" me with this 'Bute stuff'... "My boy Bute" got what he really deserved, eventually...

The Golovkin haters keep ignoring your question.

              What hypocrisy.

It's more or less true. Dawsons team tried to take it back but Ward was having none of it and Dawson didn't want to look like a btch by pushing too hard. He manned up to his word and drained himself.

And Ward gets virtually no credit for that win from anyone.

So why would Golovkin fans be using that as some kind of escape route from this blatant hypocrisy?
