Ruiz by KO. You talk about Roy's chin but is Kovalev's chin not suspect? then at heavyweight who knows how he will take shots from a bigger man, Kovalev is excellent at 175 but can he avoid being hit flush by Ruiz as much as Roy did?

By no means do I expect Kovalev to move up to heavyweight or even cruiserweight but if your gonna criticise Roy's heavyweight opponent it's worth at least considering Kovalev doing the same.
It's going to be harder for Light-Heavy's and below to become Heavyweight champions going forward. Look at the giants competing at Heavyweight now.
If John Ruiz (the same one Jones fought) was the champion, I think Kovalev could take him. But instead Kovalev would have to fight Wladimir Klitschko to become Heavyweight champion.
Kovalev can be successful at Cruiserweight though.

Sergey's chin is nowhere near the sand-castle level of Roy's. Also Roy was caught juicing, chin decreases when you go off roids. Roy is a fantastic fighter but Sergey is all wrong for him, I fully believe we are looking at an incredible all time great Lightheavy here. The perfect mix of everything, too smart to get out boxed all night and too powerful to not find the mark and finish. Against Roy and against Ruiz. It's insane you think Ruiz could beat Krusher lol

Up until he was 35 Jones was only dropped once and 49-1 across 4 weight classes.....people wanna make jokes now because he is a middle aged

In his prime Hall of Famers like Hill, Toney, Hopkins and McCallum could barely win rounds and the other world champions he fought either got embarrassed or knocked out most times....up until he fought Tarver the second time he already had defeated

Kovalev either gets UD by a wide Margin or stopped late fighting Jones from 96-99

Imagine Kov vs Roy jones even just before the first Tarver fight at age 30-33....Still a wide UD....Roy stopped going for the kill when he got older

Good post. Nice education.

Roy was mr untouchable.

Pascal landed some solid shots . Confused kovalev a few times with movement and subtle craftiness.

Pascal is a poormans roy.

Roy was fast footed handed
Quick footed handed.
Tremendous reflexes ,Anticipation and iq.

Two fisted power

Roy UD roy is the best fighter no doubt in last 35 years on his best night beside roberto duran

Lets see Kovalev move up right now and beat Deontay Wilder in his FIRST fight in the division... like Roy did.

Disagree there too. Pacquiao 2007-2010 is the greatest fighter since Muhammed Ali even. Unreal. The most electrifying too.

Bryant Jennings, who is currently ranked in the top 5, is a 220+lb heavyweight. Call me when Kovalev goes to to HW and beats him...
