It is on Golovkin to find the guy that will fight him, worrying about guys that won't and likely never will is worrying about the wrong things.

GGG does find guys to fight him, 4x a year. What you're demanding is name guys, but they don't wanna touch him, see Froch

I don't that much care if Golovkin gets a pass because I think he is a very good fighter and clearly the best guy at 160. I don't know what that really means though and I am a person that likes to find those things out. I am a patient man though I will wait it out to see but if people are going to talk about him on the top level I want to see the top level from him because he hasn't shown that yet.
Now is that all his fault, no (I will repeat that no) but that does not change the fact that he needs to do something tangible. It can be done, it is not an impossibility but I don't have the answers to that hard problem. Maybe I will really ponder it to see if I can come up with something so people can scoff at that to.

In May you are correct it is just I see this same pattern again and again with him. If I didn't think highly of him I wouldn't even care the bit I do about it because it is his career to make good on. In boxing a guy can make a whole lot happen if they want it to. I have no real issue with Golovkin staying on the grind until he gets the spot he wants but until he actually finds that spot things will continue to get worse for him.

They can only do as much as their opponents are willing to do. 160 is pretty screwy at the moment. You got the lineal champ, one of boxing's biggest stars, who's not fighting any middleweights, who GGG is mandatory to (after his voluntary fight). Peter Quillin/Jacobs are with Haymon and presumably, aren't going to be allowed to fight GGG on HBO. And even if they were, Billy Joe Saunders is set to fight the winner of Quillin vs Andy Lee and reportedly Jacobs will fight the winner of that (if it's Quilin at least). Recently the obscure IBF middleweight title was won by back from the dead Jermain Taylor who was then stripped and now the vacated belt is up for grabs with N'Dam vs Lemiuex (assuming his legal problems do not block the fight). And then there's Canelo a few pounds below who's hanging out in the Nelo Division of 155, threatening to move up to 160. So it's really a bizarre situation here when you break it all down. You look north at 168 and the landscape isn't really all that great either. It's an unfortunate time for Golovkin to burst onto the scene.
For the May fight what I am saying doesn't even really apply because may is too soon to do anything big so whatever is fine. You are totally correct about his spot it is screwy, and it is hard to say he has done the wrong thing really, I haven't had too much issue with who he has been beating up, he cleared up the riff raff. It is hard to say he is wrong looking for Canelo because that does look like the best shot, but I personally think he has done enough waiting around (his ass certainly shouldn't be waiting on Cotto, I wouldn't even utter his name and would treat him like a total joke if it came up).
It is also true 168 isn't some paradise it would really just be taking his destiny in his own hands. I do think Ward would fight him in a fight for all the marbles there so at least that would be something kind of concrete to build, shouldn't be that tough a road to build either.

That said, Hopkins was a self-destructive MoFo. He alienated people like King, Goosen, and Duva who tried to open doors for him and routinely turned down opportunities through out his career that Golovkin would've jumped at. Like after he beat Trinidad, turning down a multi-million dollar deal with Showtime to fight Hakaar, unify with Simon, then fight Calzaghe.
Like I said boxing is about making something happen, he is clearly staying in his comfort zone and not willing to strike out. I haven't seen that his team is willing to do anything like what it takes to attract names and now that they have had all this handed to them they aren't going to change.
