Cotto's not in the dark, but the part where Oscar and Arum claim resolution is reached, is met with this contradiction from Arum:

“We’re still negotiating. Miguel has not been informed yet of various details of the negotiations and everything is progressing favorably. But it has to take a little bit more time. We have to go through the process.”

With that:
1) How can Oscar/Canelo have agreed to terms if the fight is still being negotiated?
2) What demands have been met, if various details of the negotiation have not yet made its way back to Cotto?
3) How can Arum have nothing to do all with negotiations (as he's claimed), yet a conversation between he and Oscar result in a major step forward?

What I get out of the conversation is that Arum gave Oscar advice on how to get over the major roadblockS. That's all. The rest is posturing, and Canelo's side (or maybe just Oscar) trying to make it seem like it's now all on Cotto to make this fight happen.

If Richard Schaefer were still with Golden Boy, he'd have rightfully slapped a gag order on everyone. Although I guess if he were still with GBP, this fight wouldn't be discussed at all.

You bring up many great points my friend. People are so hell bent on seeing Floyd defeated that they are hanging onto every word that comes out of Oscar's mouth instead of "paying attention" to what is actually being said. They say the devil is in the details, well hell is alive and kicking. The Venue and the purse split is going the main issue. If Cotto goes to Texas, he's going to the bigger slice of the pie. And if Canelo has agreed,to "some" of the terms what are they? What I find funny is that Oscar and Canelo are pulling an Arum Pac. They are the only ones talking. In both cases, neither Floyd or Cotto has uttered a word. So until I hear something from Cotto, the talked about fight is just that..talk

This "report" was from Ring ****zine who is owned by Oscar. It's clearly a way to keep Canelo relevant while Cotto negotiates with Floyd. The article is literally Canelo simply agree'ing to actually fight Cotto and nothing more. You can't title a story saying "Agree to all of Cotto's demands" then in the same story say "We need to talk about the venue."

From everything we've read all I see is Oscar going to Arum and asking him to get something to work out. Too bad for Arum and something that should get fl*mo's to be fans of Cotto is... he's actually his own boss. He has no contract with anyone and he is simply having people he is comfortable with represetning him. It really shouldn't come as a surprise that it's Todd and Arum not involved. Arum basically severed any relationship he had with Cotto after the wrap scandal and I think he sealed the deal with the CW in the Manny fight. Arum really has nothing to do with Cotto anymore, it's all Todd.

when was the last time someone from showtime or floyds team even mentioned cottos name??
i believe it was espinoza bashing cottos last ppv... and then a rumor that came from unknown sources about haymon..
cotto has a network contract with hbo, its been stated by several sources...
canelo just agreed to cottos negotiation team terms(pena & leboeuf)...
if cotto cant agree to his own team terms then we can call it a duck...

Cotto's management themselves said that they are negotiating with Canelo. Why would canelo try to be persistent fighting Cotto if he knows Cotto is negotiating with Floyd? It's a waste of time and doesn't make sense. He would probably look some where else if that was case. You are insinuating what Canelo agrees to is to fight Cotto only? How does make sense? No **** he agreed to fight, he's been wanting to fight him since last year. Most likely Canelo agreeing to either some of the terms of Cotto or majority is the most likely the case. Didn't Cotto did a boxing event recently with Top Rank co-promoting? It's safe to say his relationship is fine with top rank.

Do you read the main page or just jump into the forums? It was reported on this website that Al Haymon is talking to Cotto. The only reason Espinoza was bashing Cotto's numbers is because he thought Canelo/Cotto was going to happen. Well, Showtime has had enough of Espinoza tail wagging the dog type of management and it's obvious Showtime isn't playing around when a top dog at CBS is talking about making a Manny/Floyd fight. That fight might not happen but Floyd isn't going to get away with fighting no-hopers and non-draws anymore.

Read this article, not just post about it. It CLEARLY states that Cotto has no contract with ANYONE and he can work with whoever he wants and that's from Cott's team. So... call Cotto a duck if you want because the facts prove 100% otherwise. I actually thought you were a knowledgeable poster, everything you said in this whole post was wrong and it's all in the story that this thread started from. I'll be prepared for the next excuse on how Coto is ducking Canelo, he'll get more money, fame and glory if he were to fight and beat Floyd. This article is trying to make it seem like Cotto is left in the dark from negotiations which is hardly the case. I'm sure he gave Canelo his demands and Canelo has agreed to them. A few weeks back canelo or Oscar admitted that the negotiations were difficult because of Cotto's demands. I'm sure Oscar, Canelo, and Bob are well aware of Cotto's terms. If there is no problem with the negotiations I'm sure Cotto will agree to fight. Mayweather is irrelevant at this point, he has no claim on that date and I doubt Cotto cares whether Mayweather fights on Mexican holidays.
