    Exactly!

and just because the OP says cotto has no network contract doesnt mean is true, it was previously reported by several sources including pena, de la hoya & kevin iole among others that cotto has a network contract... but i guess jake donovan is a more trusted source for you...
just think about it, the main reason canelo goes to hbo is for the cotto fight...
Who knows why Canelo went to HBO, couldn't it be that he said he wants to fight on cinco de mayo and he can't do that on Showtime if Mayweather has the date. There are multiple scenarios on why he could have left, but this article has a direct quote saying Cotto can fight who he wants so I'm going to take the most recent information.

Cotto's already had a two fights with HBO, where is there any information stating he had three? What we do know is Roach said he thinks Cotto is a free agent because, as Roach said, "he's good about that." Now there is a second article confirming that.

Rumor or not if Canelo was Cotto's best option that fight would be done already. That's obviously not the case and where there's smoke, there's fire. The Manny/Floyd fight talk started as a rumor, turned out to be true I have no reason to think that everyone is still keeping their options open, or eliminating possibilities.

wasn't cotto negotiating a fight between manny and floyd but chose floyd because he didn't want to fight manny at a catchweight in 2012?

I just hope Canelo vs Cotto gets made.

I would be upset if it's Mayweather Cotto, I'm personally tired of rematches, just wasting everyone's time, Top fighters are not fighting new names, extending their resume's, giving fans fights we would like to see. Instead we get these predictable boring rematches.

            Mayweather fight Pacquiao
            Cotto fight Canelo.

            it's that simple.

These are two of the best matchups for 2015, hands down. Not easy to pick a winner on either one.

No, he still liked the catchweight then, just like he liked it 6 months earlier vs Marg:

It was after Floyd, when Pac agreed to cw, that he didnt like it any more. Didnt like the money either, so he went on to look like a midget vs Trout and lose and storm out of the ring, for a cool million

Yes, but when Cotto joined Roach not fighting Manny was one of Freedie's conditions. They'll never fight again... unless Cotto loses and then leaves Roach of course.

we will find out very soon, in the meantime here is some info from freddy roach who seems to have the same opinion as de la hoya...
