I do like this because it really does back Floyd into a corner. But I don't think dates are as important to him if him, his people, or Haymon dont want to fight Manny. I think it would be hilarious and epic if Canelo were purposely bluffing to force Floyd to fight Manny.
No way Showtime goes up against Cotto vs Canelo. Nobody really wins. Floyd against anybody not named Manny would only do 250,000 while Cotto-Canelo would get 500-750k.
I think Oscar only backs off if Floyd fights Manny. And as much as I want to be hopeful. History proves the most likely scenario we get Canelo vs Cotto on the may date while Floyd fights Khan or Danny in April or late May/June.

Why would anyone think Canelo would be the A Side in this fight… Cotto has fought on more ppv's, he is the true middleweight champ (beating Sergio), the day he normally fights on is in June (Puerto Rican Day Parade). Not to mention they are demanding 50/50 & locations of Vegas or Texas. Canelo has in his favor better numbers vs Floyd. That won't be enough to get Cotto to concede so many perks, not to mention the A side. Canelo will have to give up a lot for this fight to happen. Which also might mean saying bye to May 2nd.

Canelo knows that Floyd doesn't want to face the risk with Pacquiao, so he knows, he can bully Floyd off those dates..simple as that...
Floyd-Cotto at 154 isn't as interesting as people think... remember that fight the first time had Canelo-Mosley on the undercard...
Floyd-Cotto at Middleweight is a much more interesting fight...

Again, but Floyd still wants those dates.

If Canelo moves Floyd off that May 2 date, that would be the equivalent to Canelo beating Floyd in a rematch...

It's important to him because he sees himself as "the money", the biggest draw. It's wrapped up with his fragile ego.
